VIETNAM, Thursday 8 May 2014 - A working visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam was held from 5 May – 8 May 2014 led by the Commandant of the Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Colonel Haji Abdul Hadi bin Haji Saim,
The visit was an effort to enhance the existing friendship with the National Defence Academy of Vietnam. The working visit also served another step forward to support defence diplomacy in strengthening the cordial ties between the Royal Brunei Armed Forces and Vietnam People’s Army.
During the visit, the delegation paid a courtesy call on the Vice Chief of General Staff of the Vietnam Peoples’ Army. The delegation also visited the National Defence Academy of Vietnam, Infantry Officer School 1 or known as Tran Quoc Tuan University, the 102 Regiment of 308 Division, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and the Military History Museum. Since the establishment of the diplomatic relations on 29 February 1992, the bi-lateral exchanges and co-operation in various fields including defence between the two countries are progressing very well.
Accompanying the visit was Lieutenant Colonel Zahrin bin Haji Zunaidi, the Chief Instructor of the Training Institute and Major Suriyati binti Haji Junaidi, the Chief Instructor of the Defence Academy. Also present during the visit was Lieutenant Colonel Ismaon bin Haji Zainie, Defence Attaché of Brunei Darussalam to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
