BOLKIAH GARRISON, Wednesday 25 January 2017 – The Directorate of Defence Policy, Ministry of Defence yesterday held their first consultative meeting with their counterparts from Russia’s Ministry of Defence at the Officers’ Mess, Bolkiah Garrison.
The consultative meeting covered discussions on areas of mutual interest, with a focus to enhance defence relations between both countries. It was co-chaired by Mr. Haji Adi Ihram bin Dato Paduka Haji Mahmud, Acting Director of Defence Policy and Colonel Alexander Y. Gujva, Deputy Chief of Department of the Main Directorate of International Military Cooperation of the Ministry of Defence, Russia in his capacity as the head of the Russian delegation.
Also part of the Russian delegation was Mrs. Anzhela Kus, Deputy Head of Directorate for Control, Supervision and Legal Protection of State Interests from Russia’s Rospatent Agency, as well as the Russian Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam, His Excellency Vladlen Stanislavovich Semivolos.
Today, the Russian delegation paid a courtesy call to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Captain (Rtd) Abd Rahman bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Haji Bakar.
Reaffirming the importance of the friendly defence relationship between Brunei Darussalam and Russia, the Permanent Secretary welcomed the working-level meeting that will serve to further promote mutual understanding and cooperation towards the establishment of stronger defence ties. He also took the opportunity to highlight Russia’s positive role in enhancing regional security through the framework of the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) and the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting-Plus (ADMM-Plus).
As a sign of closer defence links, Brunei Darussalam and Russia signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Military-Technical Cooperation in May last year in Sochi, Russia.




JABATANARAH DASAR PERTAHANAN ADAKAN MESYUARAT KONSULTATIF BERSAMA PERWAKILAN DELEGASI KEMENTERIAN PERTAHANAN RUSIA
BOLKIAH GARISON, Rabu 25 Januari 2017 – Jabatanarah Dasar Pertahanan, Kementerian Pertahanan telah mengadakan mesyuarat konsultatif yang pertama dengan delegasi daripada Kementerian Pertahanan Rusia bertempat di Mes Pegawai, Bolkiah Garison.
Mesyuarat konsultatif tersebut meliputi perbincangan dalam pelbagai isu ke arah melancarkan lagi hubungan kerjasama pertahanan di antara Negara Brunei Darussalam dan Rusia. Ianya telah dipengerusikan bersama oleh Haji Adi bin Dato Paduka Haij Mahmud Pemangku Pengarah Dasar Pertahanan, dan Kolonel Alexander Y. Gujva, Deputy Chief of Department of the Main Directorate of International Military Cooperation of the Ministry of Defence sebagai ketua delegasi Rusia.
Delegasi dari Kementerian Pertahanan Rusia juga turut disertai oleh Puan Anzhela Kus, Deputy Head of Directorate for Control, Supervision and Legal Protection of State Interests dari Agensi Rospatent dan Tuan Yang Terutama Vladlen Stanislavovich Semivolos, Duta Besar Rusia ke Negara Brunei Darussalam.
Hari ini, delegasi berkenaan telah mengadakan kunjungan hormat kepada Setiausaha Tetap Kementerian Pertahanan Kepten (B) Abd Rahman bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Haji Bakar.
Menggariskan kepentingan persahabatan dalam bidang pertahanan di antara Negara Brunei Darussalam dan Rusia, Setiausaha Tetap Kementerian Pertahanan telah mengalu-alukan mesyuarat konsultatif berkenaan untuk memupuk persefahaman dan kerjasama ke arah membina ikatan pertahanan yang lebih kukuh. Beliau juga mengambil peluang untuk menekankan kepentingan peranan Rusia dalam memastikan keselamatan serantau melalui rangka kerjasama pelbagai hala seperti ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) dan ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting-Plus (ADMM-Plus).
Sebagai tanda hubungan pertahanan yang semakin erat di antara Negara Brunei Darussalam dan Rusia, Memorandum Persefahaman bagi Kerjasama Teknikal Ketenteraan telah dimeterai pada Mei 2016 di Sochi, Russia.
