LANGKAWI, Tuesday 21 March 2017 – First Admiral (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit, the Deputy Minister of Defence attended the 14th Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2017 (LIMA ’17), that is currently ongoing from 21 to 25 March 2017.
LIMA ‘17 was officiated at the Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre, Aerospace Resorts World in Langkawi, Malaysia by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Yang Berhormat Dato’ Sri Haji Mohammad Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak on 21 March 2017. An official dinner reception was also attended and hosted by Malaysia’s Minister of Defence, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin bin Tun Hussein.
During LIMA ’17, First Admiral (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz had conducted a bilateral call on Yang Berhormat Dato’ Sri Mohd Johari bin Baharum, Deputy Minister of Defence, Malaysia. During the call, both sides had expressed their pleasure on the longstanding excellent defence and military relations between Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia. Both sides had also reaffirmed their commitment to further advance bilateral defence relations between the two countries by working together through mutually beneficial activities, interaction and cooperation. Issues on regional and international security issues of mutual concern were also discussed.
During the visit, the Deputy Minister of Defence also had the opportunity to witness the aerial demonstration of military aircrafts, and visited the trade exhibitions showcasing the latest advancements in maritime and aerospace technology.
LIMA ‘17 is a maritime and aerospace exhibition that takes place once every two years in Langkawi, Malaysia. This year, it has gathered 520 companies from 35 countries representing more than 55 per cent of the world’s top 100 maritime and aerospace companies. More than 300 defence and security delegations, 55 visiting warships and boats, and 106 aircraft were at the event.
