SUNGAI AKAR CAMP, Monday 25 Nov 2013 – Defence Academy, Royal Brunei Armed Forces celebrated its third year anniversary for the first time. Two ceremonies took place with a parade inspection in the morning as well as a luncheon in the afternoon.
The morning ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah at Officer Cadet School (OCS) Parade Square. The ceremony continued with a parade inspection by the guest of honour, Colonel Haji Abdul Hadi bin Haji Saim, the Commandant of Defence Academy, Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
The parade contingents consisted of students from the Junior Staff Course, Defence Academy permanent staffs, OCS personnel as well as officer cadets from both intakes. Also present for the ceremony were senior officers and directing staffs from Command and Staff Course (CSC) and OCS respectively. The ceremony then proceeded with a speech given by the Commandant of Defence Academy as well as the presentation of the Information Technology Security Standing Orders and `Panduan Alat Kelengkapan Unit’ to all Heads of Departments.
In his speech, the commandant emphasised on the achievements of Defence Academy as a whole and expressed his utmost gratitude to the officers, instructors and staff whose commitments and hard work has made the Defence Academy the credible institution it is today. The ceremony then ended with a closing doa to bless the ceremony and a photo session.
In the afternoon, a luncheon was held at the OCS Dining Hall. The guest of honour was Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces. Amongst those who attended the luncheon were ex-commandants, ex-commanding officers of Defence Academy and OCS. The guest of honour gave a speech where he emphasised the need for progress and development for Defence Academy and expressed his appreciation for the instructors and officers. The ceremony ended with a closing doa and the signing of parchment.
As a prelude to today’s ceremonies, a thanksgiving prayer was also held on Sunday night at the OCS Surau, attended by Defence Academy personnel.
