BOLKIAH GARRISON, Friday, 15 September 2017 – First Admiral (Retired) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit, the Deputy Minister of Defence today received a courtesy call from Teodoro Cirilo T. Torralba III, the Assistant Secretary for Plans and Programs, Department of National Defense of the Philippines. Assistant Secretary Torralba served as his country’s Defence Attaché to Brunei Darussalam from 2005 to 2008.
During the call, the Deputy Minister of Defence reaffirmed the mutually close and warm friendship between the two defence establishments, which has continuously flourished across a range of extensive interactions. These include cooperative activities under the ambit of the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM)/ADMM-Plus, exchange of visits, exercises, courses and trainings.
Both sides also exchanged views on regional and international security issues, covering on areas of mutual interest.
During Assistant Secretary Torralba’s visit, he also extended the invitation from the Republic of Philippines’ Department of National Defense to Brunei Darussalam’s Ministry of Defence to attend the 11th ADMM and the 4th ADMM-Plus in Manila this coming October 2017.
KUNJUNGAN HORMAT DARI ASSISTANT SECRETARY FOR PLANS AND PROGRAMS, DEPARTMENT OF NATIONAL DEFENSE OF THE PHILIPPINES
BOLKIAH GARISON, Jumaat, 15 September 2017 – Laksamana Pertama (Bersara) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit, Timbalan Menteri Pertahanan pada hari ini telah menerima kunjungan hormat daripada Teodoro Cirilo T. Torralba III, the Assistant Secretary for Plans and Programs, Department of National Defense of the Philippines. Beliau pernah memegang jawatan Atase Pertahanan Republik Filipina ke Negara Brunei Darussalam pada tahun 2005 hingga 2008.
Semasa kunjungan tersebut, Timbalan Menteri Pertahanan mengesahkan hubungan persahabatan erat di antara kedua-dua buah institusi pertahanan, yang terus berkembang dalam pelbagai interaksi yang luas. Ini termasuk kegiatan-kegiatan kerjasama di bawah Mesyuarat Menteri-Menteri Pertahanan ASEAN (ADMM)/ADMM-Plus, pertukaran lawatan, eksesais, kursus dan latihan.
Kedua-dua belah pihak juga telah bertukar-tukar pandangan mengenai hal ehwal keselamatan serantau dan antarabangsa, yang meliputi bidang-bidang kepentingan bersama.
Semasa lawatan Assistant Secretary Torralba ke Negara Brunei Darussalam, beliau juga menyampaikan jemputan daripada Jabatan Pertahanan Negara Republik Filipina kepada Kementerian Pertahanan Negara Brunei Darussalam untuk menghadiri ADMM kali ke-11 dan ADMM-Plus kali ke-4 yang akan berlangsung di Manila pada bulan Oktober 2017.
