COMMANDER OF THE ROYAL BRUNEI ARMED FORCES ATTENDS THE 2026 INDO-PACIFIC CHIEFS OF DEFENCE (CHOD) CONFERENCE IN VICTORIA, CANADA

VICTORIA, CANADA, Wednesday, 2 September 2026 – Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), attended the 2026 Indo-Pacific Chiefs of Defence (CHOD) Conference, held from 31 August to 2 September 2026 in Victoria, Canada.

The Conference was co-hosted by Admiral Samuel Paparo, Commander of the United States Pacific Command (USPACOM) and General Jennie Carignan, Chief of the Defence Staff, Canadian Armed Forces. The Conference was attended by 29 participants, including 20 Chiefs of Defence and 9 representatives from armed forces across the Indo-Pacific region, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States, the Chief of the National Guard Bureau of the United States and the Chair of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) Military Committee, as well as their respective Senior Enlisted Leaders.

The theme of this year’s Conference, “Strengthening Collective Security: Navigating Challenges in a Dynamic Indo-Pacific Landscape“, featured discussions on strengthening collective security through cross-domain deterrence, defence industrial cooperation, technology and artificial intelligence (AI)-informed decision-making, expanding multilateral cooperation, and the role of leadership in shaping the future Indo-Pacific security environment. Several guest speakers are also shared their perspectives and insights on issues aligned with the Conference’s theme.

On the sidelines of the conference, the RBAF Commander also held bilateral meetings with his counterparts, reflecting the strong bilateral defence relations between Brunei Darussalam and the respective nations. The meetings also explored future initiatives to further strengthen professional cooperation and expand opportunities for both bilateral and multilateral engagements in the Indo-Pacific region.

The annual CHOD conference plays a vital role in bringing together Chiefs of Defence from the Indo-Pacific region to discuss matters of mutual interest by fostering professional relationships and promoting enhanced cooperation and interoperability. The conference also reflects the shared commitment of participating nations to work together in addressing shared security challenges and promoting a more secure and prosperous Indo-Pacific.

PEMERINTAH ANGKATAN BERSENJATA DIRAJA BRUNEI MENGHADIRI PERSIDANGAN KETUA-KETUA PERTAHANAN INDO-PASIFIK (CHOD) 2026 DI VICTORIA, KANADA.

VICTORIA, KANADA. Rabu, 2 September 2026 – Mejar Jeneral Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Pemerintah Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei (ABDB), telah menghadiri Persidangan Indo-Pacific Chiefs of Defence (CHOD) 2026, yang berlangsung dari 31 Ogos hingga 2 September 2026 di Victoria, Kanada.

Persidangan tersebut dihoskan bersama oleh Laksamana Samuel Paparo, Commander of the United States Pacific Command (USPACOM) dan Jeneral Jennie Carignan, Chief of the Defence Staff, Canadian Armed Forces. Persidangan ini telah menghimpunkan seramai 29 peserta, terdiri daripada 20 Ketua Pertahanan dan 9 wakil angkatan tentera dari seluruh rantau Indo-Pasifik, Pengerusi Ketua Turus Bersama Amerika Syarikat, the Chief of the National Guard Bureau, serta the Chair of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) Military Committee, bersama Senior Enlisted Leaders masing-masing.

Bertemakan “Strengthening Collective Security: Navigating Challenges in a Dynamic Indo-Pacific Landscape“, persidangan tahun ini menampilkan perbincangan mengenai usaha memperkukuh keselamatan kolektif melalui pencegahan merentas domain, kerjasama industri pertahanan, teknologi dan pembuatan keputusan berasaskan kecerdasan buatan (Artificial Intelligence – AI), memperluaskan kerjasama pelbagai hala, serta peranan kepimpinan dalam membentuk landskap keselamatan Indo-Pasifik pada masa hadapan. Beberapa penceramah jemputan turut berkongsi pandangan dan perspektif mereka, sekali gus memberikan input yang bernilai selaras dengan tema persidangan.

Di samping itu, Pemerintah ABDB turut mengadakan perjumpaan dua hala bersama beberapa Ketua Turus Pertahanan yang turut hadir, yang mencerminkan hubungan pertahanan dua hala yang kukuh antara Negara Brunei Darussalam dan negara-negara berkenaan. Pertemuan tersebut turut membincangkan inisiatif-inisiatif masa hadapan bagi memperkukuh kerjasama profesional serta memperluaskan peluang interaksi dua hala dan pelbagai hala di rantau Indo-Pasifik.

Persidangan CHOD yang diadakan setiap tahun memainkan peranan penting dalam menghimpunkan Ketua-Ketua Turus Pertahanan dan perwakilan dari rantau Indo-Pasifik bagi bertukar pandangan mengenai perkara-perkara berkepentingan bersama, memperkukuh hubungan profesional, serta meningkatkan kerjasama dan interoperabiliti. Persidangan ini turut mencerminkan komitmen negara-negara yang mengambil bahagian untuk terus bekerjasama bagi menangani cabaran keselamatan bersama ke arah mewujudkan rantau Indo-Pasifik yang lebih selamat dan makmur.
