PHNOM PENH, CAMBODIA, Thursday, 17 March 2022 – Major General Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), attended the 19th ASEAN Chiefs of Defence Forces’ Meeting (ACDFM) at the Ministry of National Defence Cambodia, chaired by General Vong Pisen, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces with the theme “Solidarity for Harmonised Security” today.
The Commander of the RBAF was accompanied by the Director of Intelligence as RBAF’s Head of the 19th ASEAN Military Intelligence Meeting (AMIM) and Deputy Joint Force Commander as RBAF’s Head of the 12th ASEAN Military Operations Meeting (AMOM) that took place from 14 to 16 March 2022, in preparation for this year’s ACDFM.
During the 19th ACDFM, in the exchange of views by ASEAN Chiefs of Defence Forces (ASEAN CDF), the Commander of the RBAF presented on regional security challenges that emphasised the importance of maintaining strong ASEAN defence cooperation in line with this year’s theme. The ASEAN CDF and representatives then adopted the ASEAN Militaries Two-Year Activity Work Plan for 2022-2024 and signed the 19th ACDFM Joint Statement. The Joint Statement includes adopting the final concept paper on the establishment of ASEAN Junior Intelligence Interaction Programme (AJIIP) and acknowledging the ongoing efforts in finalising the concept paper on the ASEAN Military Exercise (AMX) for adoption. Both papers were tabled by Brunei Darussalam during the 18th ACDFM last year.
The meeting concluded with the handover ceremony of the ACDFM Chairmanship to the Defence Forces of Indonesia (TNI) as the next Chairman of the 20th ACDFM in 2023.
The Commander of the RBAF also held bilateral meetings with his ASEAN counterparts to discuss the warm bilateral relations and military cooperation between Brunei Darussalam and the countries concerned.

ASEAN Chiefs of Defence Forces’ ke-19 (ACDFM) di Kementerian Pertahanan Kemboja yang telah dipengerusikan oleh Jeneral Vong Pisen,
Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces bertemakan “Solidarity for Harmonised Security” pada hari ini.
Pemerintah ABDB telah diiringi oleh Pengarah Perisikan selaku Ketua ABDB bagi Mesyuarat ASEAN Military Intelligence ke-19 (AMIM) dan Timbalan Pemerintah Angkatan Bersama ABDB selaku wakil Ketua ABDB bagi Mesyuarat ASEAN Military Operations ke-12 (AMOM) yang telah diadakan dari 14 hingga 16 Mac 2022, bagi persediaan untuk Mesyuarat ACDFM ke-19 tahun ini.
Semasa mesyuarat ACDFM ke-19, dalam pertukaran pandangan di antara Ketua-Ketua Turus Pertahanan ASEAN (ASEAN CDF), Pemerintah ABDB telah menyampaikan taklimat yang tertumpu kepada isu-isu keselamatan serantau yang menekankan kepentingan untuk mengekalkan kerjasama pertahanan ASEAN yang kukuh; sejajar dengan tema mesyuarat. Ketua-Ketua Turus Pertahanan ASEAN serta wakil turut mempersetujui Pelan Aktiviti Kerja Dua Tahun Tentera ASEAN bagi tahun 2022-2024 dan seterusnya menandatangani Pernyataan Bersama ACDFM ke-19. Pernyataan Bersama ini termasuk penerimaan kertas konsep penubuhan
ASEAN Junior Intelligence Interaction Programme (AJIIP) dan pengiktirafan usaha berterusan bagi penerimaan dan memuktamadkan kertas konsep
ASEAN Military Exercise (AMX). Kedua-dua inisiatif ini telah dikemukakan oleh Negara Brunei Darussalam semasa ACDFM ke-18 pada tahun lalu.
Mesyuarat telah diakhiri dengan upacara penyerahan pengerusi ACDFM kepada Tentara Nasional Indonesia (TNI) selaku pengerusi bagi ACDFM ke-20 pada tahun 2023.
Pemerintah ABDB juga telah mengadakan mesyuarat dua-hala dengan Ketua-Ketua Turus Pertahanan ASEAN yang lain untuk membincangkan hubungan dua hala yang mesra dan kerjasama ketenteraan antara Negara Brunei Darussalam dan negara-negara berkenaan.
