MUARA, Thursday 5 Dec 2013 – The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) today welcomed an official visit by the Commander In Chief of Vietnam People’s Navy, Admiral Nguyen Van Hien with delegation at RBN Headquarters.

Upon arrival, Admiral Nguyen Van Hien was received by First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Abdul Halim bin Haji Mohd Hanifah, Commander of Royal Brunei Navy. Admiral Nguyen Van Hien was accorded with a Guard of Honour mounted by personnel from the Royal Brunei Navy. After reviewing the Guard of Honour, Admiral Nguyen Van Hien proceeded to pay a call to Commander of Royal Brunei Navy.

During the call, both sides also had the opportunity to exchange views on the current development between both navies and to explore areas of naval cooperation. A brief on RBN roles and organisation was also given to the visiting dignitary. Later Admiral Nguyen Van Hien had the opportunity to visit the new maintenance facilities that RBN has acquired, which is especially designed to accommodate for both DARUSSALAM and IJHTIHAD classes of ship during maintenance period.

After completing the visit at the new maintenance facilities, the Admiral Nguyen Van Hien was brought to visit one of RBN DARUSSALAM Class Patrol Vessel, KDB DARULAMAN.

Admiral Nguyen Van Hien and spouse, as well as delegates are currently in Brunei Darussalam also to attend Brunei International Defence Exhibition 2013. During this time, Admiral Nguyen Van Hien also paid a courtesy call to the Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin and Deputy Minister of Defence, Dato Paduka Haji Mustappa Bin Haji Sirat.
