BOLKIAH GARRISON, Wednesday, 2 October 2019 – The Brunei phase of the 11th Brunei Darussalam – Republic of Singapore Defence Scholars Development Programme 2019 (BSDSDP) concluded today in a Closing Ceremony held at the Officers’ Mess, Bolkiah Garrison. 

The ceremony was graced by Guest of Honour, Mr Joseph Leong, Permanent Secretary (Defence Development), Ministry of Defence, Singapore, accompanied by Brigadier General (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Shahril Anwar bin Haji Ma’awiah, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Brunei Darussalam as Brunei phase’s host.

Also present during the event were RADM Ken Cheong Kwok Chien, Commandant of SAFTI-MI;
Haji Adi Ihram bin Dato Paduka Haji Mahmud, Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Development), Ministry of Defence, Brunei Darussalam; senior officials from both countries and representative from Pusat Belia, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport.

The Closing Ceremony concluded the Brunei phase for BSDSDP this year that started on 28 September 2019. 

This year, the 11th BSDSDP involves a total of sixteen participants from Brunei Darussalam and Republic of Singapore. Brunei Darussalam’s participants comprise of six scholarship recipients from the Ministry of Defence and two from Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (Sultan’s Scholar). 

With ‘Recruitment’ as the theme of this year’s programme, the Brunei Phase includes a tour of relevant institutions in Ministry of Defence and the Royal Brunei Armed Forces. A dialogue sharing session with Singapore’s Senior Minister of State for Defence Mr Heng Chee How was also held yesterday.

Initiated in 2007, the programme serves as a platform for the personal and professional development of scholarship recipients from the Ministry of Defence of Brunei Darussalam and Republic of Singapore. It also demonstrates and reinforces the strong and long-standing bilateral defence ties between the two countries.

The participants will depart for Singapore this evening for the Singapore phase of the programme. The Singapore phase of the 11th BSDSDP will begin from tomorrow until 6 October 2019.

BRUNEI DARUSSALAM – REPUBLIC OF SINGAPORE DEFENCE SCHOLARS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME KE-11 BERAKHIR

BOLKIAH GARISON, Rabu, 02 Oktober 2019 – Fasa Brunei bagi
Brunei Darussalam – Republic of Singapore Defence Scholars Development Programme (BSDSDP) ke-11 berakhir hari ini dengan Majlis Penutup yang diadakan di Mes Pegawai, Bolkiah Garison. 

Hadir selaku tetamu kehormat bagi Majlis Penutup tersebut ialah Tuan Joseph Leong, Setiausaha Tetap (Pembangunan Pertahanan), Kementerian Pertahanan, Republik Singapura dengan diiringi oleh Brigadier Jeneral (B) Dato Seri Pahlawan Shahril Anwar bin Haji Ma’awiah, Setiausaha Tetap, Kementerian Pertahanan, Negara Brunei Darussalam sebagai hos fasa Brunei.

Turut hadir pada majlis berkenaan ialah
RADM Ken Cheong Kwok Chien, Komandan SAFTI-MI; Haji Adi Ihram bin Dato Paduka Haji Mahmud, Pemangku Timbalan Setiausaha Tetap (Dasar dan Pembangunan), Kementerian Pertahanan, Negara Brunei Darussalam;  pegawai-pegawai kanan daripada kedua-dua buah negara dan wakil daripada Pusat Belia, Kementerian Kebudayaan, Belia dan Sukan.

Majlis Penutup ini merupakan aktiviti penutup bagi fasa Brunei
BSDSDP kali ini yang telah bermula semenjak 28 September 2019.

Pada tahun ini,
BSDSDP melibatkan seramai enam belas orang peserta dari Negara Brunei Darussalam dan Republik Singapura. Para peserta Negara Brunei Darussalam terdiri daripada enam orang penerima biasiswa Kementerian Pertahanan dan dua orang penerima biasiswa Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (Sultan’s
Scholars).

Berkonsepkan ‘Recruitment’ sebagai tema bagi program tahun ini, fasa Brunei merangkumi lawatan ke beberapa jabatanarah dan unit-unit di bawah Kementerian Pertahanan dan Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei. Sesi dialog bersama
Senior Minister of State for Defence, Singapura, Tuan Heng Chee How juga telah berlangsung semalam.

Mula diadakan pada tahun 2007,
BSDSDP adalah salah satu inisiatif  untuk meningkatkan perkembangan diri dan profesionalisme di kalangan penerima biasiswa Kementerian Pertahanan dari kedua buah negara.

Para peserta akan bertolak ke Republik Singapura pada petang ini bagi fasa Singapura. Fasa tersebut akan bermula esok dan berakhir pada 6 Oktober 2019.
