BOLKIAH GARRISON, Friday, 22 March 2019 – As a member of the Independent Decommissioning Body Verification, Monitoring and Assistance Team (IDB VMAT) in Mindanao, Brunei Darussalam deployed two personnel from Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) for a tour of duty in Mindanao, the Republic of Philippines.
A flag handing over and
doa selamat ceremony were also held this morning for the RBAF personnel.
The Brunei Darussalam flag was handed over by the Guest of Honour, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, the Second Minister of Defence to Lieutenant Colonel (U) Sherpor Nezam bin Abdul Ghapor as the Head of Delegation. Also present were Major General Pengiran Dato Paduka Seri Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Commander of the RBAF, members of the Defence Executive Committee, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Service Commanders, Defence Attaché from the Republic of Philippines and officers from the Ministry of Defence and RBAF.
IDB VMAT is a step forward in the peace process in Mindanao, the Republic of Philippines to oversee the process of decommissioning of the forces and weapons of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF). The IDB VMAT is composed of foreign experts from Brunei Darussalam, Turkey, Norway as well as representatives from the Government of the Philippines, MILF, and National Staff.
This is another significant milestone for Brunei Darussalam in contributing towards the peace process in Mindanao since RBAF’s involvement as a member of the International Monitoring Team (IMT) in 2004.

the Independent Decommissioning Body Verification, Monitoring and Assistance Team (IDB VMAT) di Mindanao, Republik Filipina, Brunei Darussalam menghantar dua anggota daripada Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei. Majlis penyerahan bendera dan
doa selamat telah diadakan pada pagi ini bagi anggota-anggota ABDB tersebut.
Bendera Negara Brunei Darussalam telah diserahkan oleh Tetamu Kehormat, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Mejar Jeneral (Bersara) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Menteri Pertahanan Kedua kepada Leftenan Kolonel (U) Sherpor Nezam bin Abdul Ghapor sebagai Ketua Delegasi.
Turut hadir juga ialah Mejar Jeneral Pengiran Dato Paduka Seri Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Pemerintah ABDB, ahli-ahli Jawatankuasa Eksekutif Pertahanan, Setiausaha Tetap Kementerian Hal Ehwal Luar Negeri, Pemerintah-Pemerintah Angkatan Tentera, Atase Pertahanan Republik Filipina dan pegawai-pegawai daripada Kementerian Pertahanan dan ABDB.
IDB VMAT adalah merupakan satu langkah hala tuju bagi proses keamanan di Mindanao, Republik Filipina untuk mengawasi proses pelucutan pasukan dan senjata
MILF. IDB VMAT ini terdiri daripada setiap pakar perwakilan luar negeri daripada Brunei Darussalam,Turki, Norway serta wakil-wakil daripada Kerajaan Filipina,
MILF dan
National Staff.
Ini adalah merupakan satu pencapaian penting bagi Negara Brunei Darussalam ke arah proses keamanan di Mindanao sejak penglibatan ABDB sebagai ahli Pasukan Pemantauan Antarabangsa pada tahun 2004.
