BOLKIAH GARRISON, Friday, 28 February 2020 – As a member of the Independent Decommissioning Body Verification, Monitoring and Assistance Team (IDB VMAT) in Mindanao, Brunei Darussalam deployed four personnel from the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) for a tour of duty in Mindanao, the Republic of Philippines.
A flag handing-over was held at Bolkiah Garrison Gymnasium and doa selamat at Ad-Difa’ Surau, Ministry of Defence.
The Brunei Darussalam flag was handed over by the Guest of Honour, Major General Pengiran Dato Paduka Seri Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Commander of the RBAF, to Lieutenant Colonel Mohd Hanafi Azami bin Nayan as the Head of Delegation.
Also present were the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Service Commanders, Defence Attaché from the Republic of Philippines and officers from the Ministry of Defence and RBAF.
IDB VMAT is a step forward in the peace process in Mindanao, the Republic of Philippines to oversee the process of decommissioning of the forces and weapons of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF). The IDB VMAT is composed of foreign experts from Brunei Darussalam, Turkey, Norway as well as representatives from the Government of the Philippines, MILF, and National Staff.
This is another significant milestone for Brunei Darussalam in contributing towards the peace process in Mindanao since RBAF’s involvement as a member of the International Monitoring Team (IMT) in 2004.
BRUNEI DARUSSALAM HANTAR EMPAT ANGGOTA ABDB KE MINDANAO, REPUBLIK FILIPINA
BOLKIAH GARRISON, Jumaat, 28 February 2020 – Negara Brunei Darussalam telah menghantar empat anggota Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei (ABDB) sebagai ahli Independent Decommissioning Body Verification, Monitoring and Assistance Team (IDB VMAT) di Mindanao, Republik Filipina.
Majlis penyerahan bendera telah diadakan di Dewan Gerak Badan, Bolkiah Garison manakala Majlis Doa Selamat diadakan di Surau Ad-Difa’, Kementerian Pertahanan.
Bendera Negara Brunei Darussalam telah diserahkan oleh Mejar Jeneral Pengiran Dato Paduka Seri Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Pemerintah ABDB kepada Leftenan Kolonel Mohd Hanafi Azami bin Nayan sebagai Ketua Delegasi.
Turut hadir juga ialah Setiausaha Tetap Kementerian Pertahanan, Setiausaha Tetap Kementerian Hal Ehwal Luar Negeri, Pemerintah-Pemerintah Angkatan Tentera, Atase Pertahanan Republik Filipina dan pegawai-pegawai daripada Kementerian Pertahanan dan ABDB.
IDB VMAT adalah merupakan satu lagi langkah hala tuju dalam proses keamanan di Mindanao, Republik Filipina untuk mengawasi proses perlucutan pasukan dan senjata MILF. IDB VMAT ini terdiri daripada pakar-pakar perwakilan luar negeri daripada Negara Brunei Darussalam, Turki, Norway serta wakil-wakil daripada Kerajaan Filipina, MILF dan National Staff.
Ini adalah merupakan satu sumbangan penting bagi Negara Brunei Darussalam ke arah proses keamanan di Mindanao sejak penglibatan ABDB sebagai ahli Pasukan Pemantauan Antarabangsa pada tahun 2004.
