JERUDONG, Saturday 9 July 2011 – The Deputy Minister of Defence, Dato Paduka Awang Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat, conveyed his appreciation to the organisers of this year’s Bridex – Royal Brunei Technical Services, Ministry of Defence and Royal Brunei Armed Forces – for making this year’s event possible and for the warm hospitability extended to all overseas guests.“To the sponsors, partners and volunteers, your commitment and dedication has made Bridex 2011 a great success,” he said during the Bridex 2011 Gala Night at the Indera Samudra Grand Hall of The Empire Hotel & Country Club in Jerudong.
According to him, the fleet review that was participated by 12 nations had made this year’s event a unique and special affair. The city parade too also enlivened our capital, he added.
“I would also like to thank the Royal Malaysian Air Force, Republic of Singapore Air Force, United States Air Force, Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force and TNI-AU for participating in the air display,” he said.
Over 31 countries signed up for the Bridex 2011, and the Deputy Minister of Defence extended a warm invitation to all delegates for the next Bridex in 2013.
During last night’s event, Dato Paduka Awang Haji Mustappa presented appreciation plaques to all exhibitors who participated in this year’s event.
To enliven the event, traditional songs were belted out by two of Brunei’s brightest teen talents, Putri Norizah and Eza. Guests were also treated to an “international medley” performance (a mix of continental, oriental and Middle Eastern dances) and an ethnic dance performance called “Rumpun Budaya”.
As a grand finale, guests were treated to view spectacular fireworks display at the vicinity of The Empire Hotel & Country Club.
