BOLKIAH GARRISON, Wednesday 30 January 2013 – Managing and maintaining good relations with media partners is essential in contributing to the initiative of promoting the positive image of an organization. This was highlighted during the Media Consultation between the Public Relations Unit, Ministry of Defence and local media agencies, both government and private, that was held yesterday at the Ministry of Defence, Bolkiah Garrison.

Presiding over the consultation was the Head of Public Relations Unit, Lieutenant Colonel Haji Salleh bin Haji Suhaili, and accompanied by Officers and staff of the Public Relations Unit. While media agencies attendance included Radio Television Brunei, Pelita Brunei Section Information Department, Borneo Bulletin, Media Permata and The Brunei Times.

During the consultation, Lt Col Haji Salleh emphasized on the importance of establishing and gradually improving relations between the Public Relations Unit with all media partners. This is achievable through the conduct of regular interactions and consultation as a platform to overcome arising challenges and explore opportunities for collaboration for mutual benefits.

Other matters also discussed at the consultation included familiarisation with objectives and expectations of respective media agencies, exchange of views on enhancing effectiveness of working relations, and sharing updates on the upcoming events hosted by the Ministry of Defence and Royal Brunei Armed Forces for 2013.

The Public Relations Unit has been conducting similar media consultations since 2008. This is the first consultation held by the Public Relations Unit for this year, which is expected to be held quarterly.
