BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Saturday 23 February 2013  – Brunei Darussalam commemorated 29 years of independence at this year’s National Day Parade, which featured government agencies, non-government agencies, academic institutions, and companies in the private sector gather at the Taman Hj Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien in the capital to celebrate a joyous occasion of the 23 February.

The Ministry of Defence 250 civilian contingent led by the Permanent Secretary (Defence Policy and Development), Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Azmansham bin Pengiran Haji Mohamad dressed in their green colored uniform, each bearing the national flags joined the procession.

While the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) personnel equipped in their respective services’ uniforms and military gears marched-past through the parade as His Majesty Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam accompanied by His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office looked on. Other civilian staffs also participated in the field performances in the 2-hour morning event.

Carrying the theme “Negaraku Brunei Darussalam” or My Country Brunei Darussalam, the Taman Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien was filled with arrays of colours from the 22,000 participants of the glorious event acknowledging the dedication, loyalty and their patriotic spirit to the nation.
