MUARA, Monday 6 May 2013 – Admiral TNI Dr. Marsetio, the Naval Staff Chief of the Indonesian Navy, Tentera Nasional Indonesia yesterday safely arrived at the Brunei International Airport for his introductory visit from 6 May 2013 until 7 May 2013. Awaiting his arrival was First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Abdul Halim bin Haji Mohd Hanifah, Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) together with several of RBN’s senior officers.
Brunei Darussalam and The Republic of Indonesia are known for its long established relationship and this visit is further proof of the countries strong ties. Upon his arrival at the Royal Brunei Navy headquarters, Admiral TNI Dr. Marsetio was accorded with a Guard of Honour exhibited by personnel from the Royal Brunei Navy.
After reviewing the Guard of Honour, the Admiral proceeded to pay a courtesy call to First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Abdul Halim bin Haji Mohd Hanifah.
Admiral TNI Dr. Marsetio was accompanied by a number of top officials from the Indonesian Navy including Rear Admiral Ir. I Putu Yuli Adnyana, Assisstant Security & Intelligence to the Naval Staff Chief, Col Erwin Alderdharma, Expert Staff Coordinator to the Naval Staff Chief & Lt Hasan Sapril, Aide-De-Camp to the Naval Staff Chief. Deputy Commander of RBN, Col (L) Pg Norazmi bin Pg Haji Muhammad and several others RBN senior officers were also present during the call.
Several topics were on the agenda during the call but the main highlight was the discussion on naval cooperation, where they discussed on areas where it can be revised and improvised to get maximum benefits. The Admiral also made courtesy calls to Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, the Commander of The Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
Even though it was only for two days, The Admiral and his delegations were also given the opportunity to get to know Brunei more as visits to places of huge Cultural Significance to the Bruneian community such as Kampong Ayer and Royal Regalia were organized.
