JAKARTA, INDONESIA Monday 4 March 2013 – The Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), Major General Dato Paduka Seri Hj Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Hj Abidin was in Jakarta to sign the Joint Understanding of Brunei-Indonesia Higher Level Committee (BRUNESIA-HLC) and subsequently to co-chair the first BRUNESIA-HLC meeting. Signing on behalf of Indonesian National Defence Forces (TNI) was its Commander-in-Chief, Admiral TNI Dato Paduka Seri Agus Suhartono. The signing took place at TNI General Headquarters (Mabes TNI) at Cilangkap whilst the meeting took place at Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta.
The primary aim of the BRUNESIA-HLC is to facilitate the implementation of military cooperation between the two nations for the purpose of strengthening military cooperation beneficial to both Armed Forces. Under the present configuration BRUNESIA-HLC oversees the Services Working Groups from the Land Force, Navy and the Air Force and three sub-committees namely, Joint Intelligence Sub-Committee (JISC), Joint Operations & Exercises Sub-Committee (JOESC) and Joint Training & Education (JTESC). In principle, the BRUNESIA-HLC will convene biennially with the sub-committees coming together annually. The signing marked a significant milestone in the state of bilateral relation and the resolve of both military leaders in their desire to heighten military cooperation between the two armed forces. The BRUNESIA-HLC also serves as a synergising tool for the two Armed Forces in the implementation of planned activities.
On the sideline of the signing ceremony and the meeting, the Commander of RBAF paid a courtesy call to the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Indonesia, Profesor Dr Ir Purnomo Yusgiantoro. During the call both sides discussed matters on bilateral defence relations.
ABDB METERAI KESEFAHAMAN BERSAMA HIGHER LEVEL COMMITTEE NEGARA BRUNEI DARUSSALAM DAN REPUBLIK INDONESIA (BRUNESIA-HLC)

Seri Paduka Hj Abidin telah berada di Jakarta, Republik Indonesia untuk
menandatangani Kesafahaman Bersama Higher Level Committee Brunei
Indonesia (BRUNESIA-HLC) dan seterusnya mempengerusikan bersama
Mesyuarat Pertama BRUNESIA-HLC.
Menandatangani dokumen BRUNESIA HLC dan
seterusnya juga menjadi pengerusi bersama bagi pihak TNI ialah Panglima
TNI, Laksamana TNI Dato Paduka Seri Agus Suhartono . Upacara
penandatanganan berlangsung di Markas Besar (Mabes) TNI, Cilangkap,
manakala mesyuarat diadakan di Hotel Shangrila, Jakarta.
Tujuan
utama Kesefahaman Bersama tersebut ialah bagi membolehkan kerjasama
tentera diantara kedua-dua negara dijalankan dengan cara yang bermanfaat
kepada kedua-dua pihak tentera.
Diantara skop kerjasama dibawah
kesefahaman tersebut termasuklah pertemuan kumpulan kerja
Angkatan-angkatan Tentera, kerjasama dalam bidang Perisikan, Operasi dan
Eksesais, Latihan dan Pelajaran. BRUNESIA HLC akan bersidang setiap dua
tahun sekali dipimpin olih Pemerintah ABDB dan Panglima TNI selaku
Pengerusi Bersama.
Pemerintah ABDB juga telah membuat
kunjungan hormat rasmi kepada Menteri Pertahanan Republik Indonesia,
Profesor Dr Ir Purnomo Yusgiantoro di Kementerian Pertahanan Republik
Indonesia. Semasa kunjungan hormat tersebut kedua pihak telah
membincangkan isu-isu mengenai hubungan dua-hala pertahanan kedua
Negara.
