SINGAPORE, Monday 11 March 2013 – A delegation of 13 personnel from the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), headed by Lt Col (L) Shamsul Bahren bin Haji Taweh, arrived at the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) Fleet Headquarters based at Changi Naval Base to conduct a joint simulator exercise code-named PELICAN.
This year’s exercise marks the 32nd in the series and will last for a week from the 11th to 15th of March 2013, which is hosted by the RSN.
Prior to the activation of the exercise, Head of the Brunei’s Delegation, who is also the Deputy Commander Task Group, made a Courtesy Call to Col Timothy Lo, the Fleet Commander of the Royal Singapore Navy (RSN). The opening ceremony of the exercise was officiated by Col Alan Goh who is also the Commander Task Group for the exercise.
The command teams from RSN’s Formidable-class Stealth Frigate (RSS TENACIOUS) and Missile Corvette (RSS VALOUR), as well as RBN’s Darussalam-class Patrol Vessel (KDB DARULEHSAN) and Ijhtihad-class Fast Patrol Boat (KDB AFIAT) will be involve in this year’s exercise, during which the two navies will be conducting a series of tactical discussions and simulation exercises concerning naval warfare which includes Anti-Surface, Anti-Submarine, Anti-Air and Maritime Air Operations. The exercise itself will include a tactical phase, which incorporates tactical procedures on tactical manoeuvres and encounter exercise. These exercises were aimed to achieve a greater mutual understanding and to practise the PELICAN Standard Exercise Procedures (PELSEP).
Several interaction programmes comprising of sports event and educational visits were organized to improve the knowledge and relationships between both navies. Besides the exercise, the two navies also interacted through organised visits to places such as the RSS TENACIOUS and the Information Fusion Center (IFC), professional exchanges, cross-attendance of courses and sports interaction. These interactions were aimed to strengthen the mutual understanding and comradeship between the two navies.


EKSESAIS PELICAN TTC 32/13

– Tentera Laut Diraja Brunei (TLDB) dan Tentera Laut Republik Singapura
(TLRS)telah bergabung dalam menjalani Eksesais PELICAN TTC 32/13 yang
telah diadakan di Pangkalan Tentera Laut Changi, Singapura selama satu
minggu, bermula pada 10 hingga 16 March 2013. Diketuai oleh Lt Kol (L)
Shamsul Bahren bin Haji Taweh juga selaku Deputy Commander Task Group .
Eksesais
pada tahun ini merupakan siri yang ke-32 eksesais PELICAN telah
dijalankan. Sebelum majlis pembukaan latihan, Ketua Delegasi TLDB telah
membuat kunjungan hormat kepada Kol Timothy Lo, Pemerintah Armada,
TLRS. Eksesais PELICAN pada tahun ini dikendalikan oleh TLRS dan Majlis
pembukaan latihan telah disempuranakan Kol Alan Goh sebagai Commander
Task Group bagi Eksesais PELICAN.
Anggota-anggota
yang terlibat dalam eksesais ini adalah terdiri daripada Command Team
kapal Singapura dari kelas Formidable (RSS TENACIOUS), Missile Corvette
(RSS VALOUR) dan juga Command Team delegasi TLDB dari Kapal Peronda
kelas Darussalam (KDB DARULEHSAN) dan Kapal Peronda Laju kelas Ijhtihad
(KDB AFIAT). Sepanjang eksesais tersebut, kedua belah pihak akan
terlibat dalam latihan peperangan laut menggunakan simulator di mana
bermacam scenario seperti Anti-Surface Anti-Submarine, Anti-Air dan
Maritime Air Operations akan di latihkan. Selain daripada latihan
menggunakan simulator, kedua pihak Tentera Laut akan mengadakan lawatan
kepada tempat-tempat seperti RSS TENACIOUS dan Information Fusion Center
(IFC), perbincangan, pertukaran profesional, beberapa sesi belajar dan
sukan interaksi. Dengan cara tersebut, perhubungan dan persefahaman
diantara TLDB dan TLRS akan lebih dikukuhkan lagi.Objektif latihan
adalah untuk mengeratkan tali persahabatan diantara TLDB dan TLRS
sekaligus berkongsi pengetahuan dan maklumat diantara kedua-dua pihak
mengenai prosedur taktikal dengan menggunakan simulator. Disamping itu
juga, latihan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan lagi kerjasama diantara
kedua pihak.
Bagi Eksesais PELICAN 32/13, TLRS
menjadi penganjur utama bagi latihan tersebut. 13 orang warga TLDB
terlibat dalam menjalani latihan ini. Eksesais ini mengandungi fasa
taktikal, dimana peserta-peserta eksesais akan melatihkan prosedure
taktikal didalam simulator dengan mengikuti PELICAN Standard Exercise
Procedures (PELSEP). Program interaksi yang melibatkan acara sukan dan
lawatan sambil belajar juga di niatkan agar ianya mengeratkan lagi tali
persahabatan diantara dua pihak.
