TANAH JAMBU, Friday 17 May 2013 – The Foundation Laying Ceremony for the proposed Defence Academy was held at the project site at Kg Tanah Jambu.The event was inaugrated by the guest of honour, Dato Paduka Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat, Deputy Minister of Defence. The ceremony was also attended by Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Commander Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Colonel (Rtd) Pg Dato Paduka Haji Azmanham bin Pg Haji Mohamad, Permanent Secretary (Defence Policy and Development), Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Defence Policy and Development), Directors, officers and staff from Officer Cadet School and Directorate of Development and Work Services.
The Consultants engaged for this project are Arkitek Rekajaya as the Architect, Regional Consultants as the M&E Engineering Consultant, Adwan Associates as the Civil/Structural Engineering Consultants and HZ & Associates as the Quantity Surveyor.
Site Location
• Site Acreage 150 acres
• Facing the South China Sea, the proposed site is located along the Muara – Tutong Highway to its South. It is approximately 8 kilometers east of the entrance to Berakas Camp.
• The site is within 2 kilometers of the Nahkota Ragam Vocational School, the Fisheries Department facilities at Meragang, and Meragang School.
• In general, the area is covered in dense forests and moderate hilly terrain and lower flatter plains. The higher lands are centrally located on the proposed site, extending from the South West to the North East, with a highest peak of some 60 metres.
Project Description
The primary concept for the Defence Academy is to compliment the Vision of the Ministry of Defence in delivering robust, responsive and resource efficient armed forces by attributing respect to the defence of Our Sovereignty, Our territorial integrity and by holding the constitution and the Malay Islamic Monarchy philosophy. The Defence Academy will be the most advanced, up-to-date and relevant officer training facility within the region.
The development of Military Academy consist of the following facilities:

20. Married Quarters Accommodation
21. Commandant’s Residence
Total site acreage = 150 acres (50 acres utilized under this development)
Total GFA of buildings = 39,917 m2
The project is split into 4 Packages and inclusive of the 11KVA power system installation from BPMC. The delivery date for all completion is by end of 2014
