SINGAPORE, Saturday 18 May 2013 -  The Commander of the Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF), Colonel (U) Haji Wardi bin Haji Abdul Latip, was on a back-to-back trip to the Republic Singapore to attend the International Maritime Defence Exhibition Asia 2013 (IMDEX Asia 2013) and Introductory Visit to the Republic of Singapore Air Force from 14-18 May 2013.


This year’s IMDEX Asia 2013 is the 9th edition in the series was held from 14 to 16 May 2013 at the Changi Exhibition Centre, Republic of Singapore. Supported by the Republic of Singapore Navy, this biennial exhibition and conference is a one-stop opportunity for key decision makers from the navy and international maritime defence industry to keep abreast with the latest maritime defence technologies and developments in the region.

Together attending the IMDEX event this from Brunei Darussalam was the Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy, First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Abdul Halim bin Haji Mohd Hanifah.

At the sidelines of the exhibition, the Commander of the RBAirF made an informal bilateral call to the Chief of Navy of the Republic Singapore Navy, Real Admiral Ng Chee Peng at the exhibition centre.

After concluding the IMDEX Asia 2013 trip, the Commander of the RBAirF paid an introductory visit to the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) from 16 to 18 May 2013.

The RSAF presented the RSAF Honorary Pilot Wing to the Commander of the RBAirF, Colonel (U) Haji Wardi bin Haji Abdul Latip, to signify his contribution and commitment in further enhancing the already strong and long-standing defence relationship between Singapore and Brunei at air force level.

The programme outlined by the RSAF includes paying courtesy call to the Chief of Air Force, RSAF, Brigadier General Hoo Cher Mou, courtesy call to the Chief of Defence Force, Major General Ng Chee Meng and courtesy call to the Minister for Defence Republic of Singapore, Dr Ng Eng Hen. Subsequently, the programme continued with working visit programme to the units of the RSAF. This working visit includes visits to both the Paya Lebar and Seletar Air Base including the Air Force Training Command, Participation Command as well as the Singapore Youth Flying Club.

The visit to Singapore by Colonel (U) Haji Wardi highlights the deep rooted and continuing bond between Singapore and Brunei. This strong defence relationship has been shown regularly through the professional exchanges and bilateral exercises between The RSAF and the RBAF. It is these interactions that have strengthened the mutual friendship and international cooperation between the two air forces.
