BOLKIAH GARRISON, Friday 7 June 2013 – The Ministry of Defence this morning received a farewell call by the outgoing United Kindgom, Chief of Defence Staff, His Excellency General Sir David Richards at Bolkiah Garrison.
Upon arrival, His Excellency was accorded with a Guard of Honour mounted by personnel from the First Battalion Royal Brunei Land Force. After reviewing the Guard of Honour, His Excellency proceeded to pay a courtesy call on Deputy Minister of Defence, Dato Paduka Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat.
Also present were the Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Permanent Secretary (Defence Policy and Development) Colonel (Rtd) Pg Dato Paduka Haji Azmansham bin Pg Haji Mohamad and Ministry of Defence senior officers.
Later His Excellency proceeded to pay a courtesy call on RBAF Commander, Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin. Also present were RBAF Deputy Commander, Services Commanders, Joint Force Commander, RBAF Training Institute Commandant, Directors and RBAF senior officers.
During the tenure of His Excellency, he contributed profoundly to the enhancement of the long standing relationship and bilateral cooperation between both countries where both Armed Forces regularly send its personnel for military exercises, bilateral training, meetings and seminars. . His Excellency and spouse Lady Caroline Richards as well as delegation were in Brunei Darussalam for three-day farewell visit.
