SERASA, Sunday 7 July 2013 – 12889 Staff Sergeant Zulkiflie bin Liman emerged overall winner in the Men’s RBAF Individual category by clocking a time of 02.21.19sec. Azmi Abdul Hadzid was overall winner in the Men’s Public Individual category clocking a time of 02.05.59sec at the 4th RBAF Triathlon 2013 held in conjunction with the RBAF 52nd anniversary. They received $1,000 prize, trophy and medal respectively.
On hand to present the prize to the winners was Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin.
The Men’s team for RBAF category team (3 men per team) win was TDDB2 team by clocking a time of 02.07.30sec,
The winners in the Men’s team for Public category team (3 men per team) were GB2021 team by clocking a time of 02.00.53sec. They each received prize of $1,000, trophy and medal.
Meanwhile, in the Men’s RBAF Individual category, the second place was won by 13912 Sgt Md Norisman bin Ismail with a time of 02.24.37 sec. The third place was won by 18595 LCpl Khairinnazzami bin Hanapiah in 02.25.37 sec. Fourth and fifth places were won by 10884 SSgt Md Noor bin Hj Abdullah in 02.26.13sec and fifth place was won by 18351 Cpl Mumin bin Hj Sait in 02. 03. 24 sec. They each received $800, $600, $400 and $200 respectively.The 6th to 10th placing each received $100.
In the Men’s Public Individual category, second place was won by Gavin Hicks with a time of 02.16.15sec. The third place was won by Faizal bin Hj Ahmad in 02.21.09sec. The fourth place was won by Fabien Riant. Fifth place was won by Ahmadur Tahir from Sabah. They each received $800, $600, $400 and $200 respectively.
In the Men’s team for RBAF category, second place was won by TDDB 1; third place, Tangkas 1; fourth, Tangkas 2, and fifth place, Air Force TRI Team. In the Men’s team for Public category, second place was Team LSK Mata-Mata; third, KacangTumbuk; fourth, Groove Team, and fifth MMTSSR AD 3 team. The team each received $800, $600, $400 and $200 respectively.
The event took place at RBAF Water Sport Centre, Serasa, Muara.
This was the 4th time the event was organized. This year, the event was organised by the Perfor-mance Optimisation Centre, Ministry of Defence. The event followed the “Olympic Distance,” which started off with a 1.5km swim, followed by a 40km cycling and ending up with a 10km run.
This year saw the largest participation of 413 participants compared to previous years. They comprised of 30 individual participants from RBAF, 23 public individual participants, 105 teams of RBAF and 15 public teams taking part in the competition. Also present was Deputy Commander of RBAF, Commander of Land and Air Forces, directors, RBAF senior officers and officers. Also present was Deputy Commander of Royal Brunei Land Force Colonel Hj Zainal Ariffin bin Dato Paduka Hj Ahmad, patron of 2013 RBAF Triathlon Sport.
