INDONESIA, Tuesday 9 Sept 2013 – Opening Ceremony Counter Terrorist (CT) Exercise ADMM Plus was Co-Officiated by both His Excellency the US Ambassador to ASEAN and the TNI’s Chief of Defence Force. It was attended by the Heads of Delegation and participants from 18 countries. His Excellencies reiterated the importance of such exercise to ensure all nations will be able to share knowledge and find common operating procedures or TTPs when several nations work together to combat terrorism.
Prior to the Opening Ceremony, the participants attended two days ice breaking sessions where all participants where splited into 11 groups. They embarked in the Obstacle Course, shooting competition and also sports.
The Opening ceremony marked the beginning of ADMM Plus CTX 2013. The exercise kicked off with the Counter Improvised Explosives Disposal phase hosted by the US. Participants had the chance to hear lectures and experiences from US personnel, who had been in War theatres. CTX participants also had the chance to do several route clearance practical. Simultaneously, TTX is also being conducted where three senior officers from RBAF is taking part.
The second part of the exercise provides participants the chance to experience two simulations of terrorist attacks on a LNG Ship and also hostage takings in a stadium. Each scenario is conducted separately. Before conducting the operations, participants discussed over each country’s concept operations (CONOPS).
In the end, all participating countries will select the best CONOPS and will build a common SOP or TTPs for all operators to follow during the operations.
The exercise is a golden avenue for Brunei Darussalam to gain experiences and widen our knowledge from countries in particular those who had gone to wars in combating terrorists like in Afghanistan and Iraq. Similarly, to those countries whom are still at war with insurgencies within their own soils.
The Organizers have express their amazement in our professional level displayed by our Team in performing their duties and also the honour was given to the RBAF’s SFR to be the mission commander to lead in one of the simulation which had gained praises.
