SG AKAR CAMP, Jumaat 11 Oct 2013 – The Officer Cadet School (OCS) Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces held an Officiating Ceremony of the 11th Intake of the Officer Cadet Course. The guest of honour, Deputy Minister of Defence, Dato Paduka Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat, congratulated 23 Officer Cadets, consisting of 14 male and 9 female Officer Cadets including 5 recepients of MINDEF Scholarship.
Out of this total, 15 Officer Cadets will join the Royal Brunei Land Force, 4 Officer Cadets will join the Royal Brunei Navy and 4 will join the Royal Brunei Air Force.
In attendance at the ceremony were the Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Permanent Secretaries, Deputy Commander of RBAF, Deputy Permanent Secretaries, Services Commanders and Commandants, senior officers from the Ministry of Defence and RBAF as well as the families of the Officer Cadets.
The Officer Cadets will undergo 42 weeks of training consisting of 13 weeks in the first term focusing on their basic military skills and leadership training followed by the middle term consisting of 13 weeks of more leadership, military knowledge training and academic studies. The final term includes a Special to Service training and further professional training. The course will be ended with the Sovereign’s Parade in which Officer Cadets who meet OCS standards will be commissioned as Officers of Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
