TANAH JAMBU, Monday, 23 November 2015 – A total of 82 candidates enrolled to be selected as potential Officer Cadets for Officer Cadet School, Defence Academy, Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
The Armed Forces Commissioning Board (AFCB) selection process will be conducted from 23-27 November 2015 held for the first time ever at the new state of the art Defence Academy, Tanah Jambu.
AFCB consists of a personal interview, individual presentations, a group discussion, orienteering, leadership command tasks and physical fitness assessments. Competition among candidates was high, with each individual having to prove their potential to earn the opportunity to become an officer in Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
The opening address was delivered by Lieutenant Colonel Saiful Akhmar bin Haji Mohd Shariff, Commandant of the Defence Academy, who stressed in current Y generation we are encountering the challenge of knowing and understanding the technological edge, but still be a front line soldier. In addition he also warned the mental and physicals demands of AFCB and the duty of being an officer in RBAF, where the highest standards is expected at all times.
Despite all this a career in the RBAF not only inculcates the military values of any other military organization. In OCS, it instills Islamic values to RBAF future military leaders in order to be in line with the nation’s Malay Islamic Monarchy Philosophy.
From the Islamic perspective, being in the military it is highly regarded as an honourable occupation. It is also a life changing experience for all, which starts with individual development and vast amount of collective work. Also this give the candidates an opportunity to serve the in unique way like no other in the government sector.
