BOLKIAH GARRISON, Wednesday, 23 September 2015 – Dato Paduka Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat, Deputy Minister of Defence, received a courtesy call from Brigadier-General Mark W. Gillette, Deputy Director for Strategic Policy and Planning, U.S. Pacific Command at the Ministry of Defence this afternoon.
Present during the call were Abu Sufian bin Ali, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Defence Policy and Development) and His Excellency Craig Boyd Allen, US Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam.
The discussion during the call centered around the robust bilateral defence relations between Brunei Darussalam and the United States of America, noting the regular interactions which helped enhance the relations further through a series of bilateral military exercises, goodwill visits as well as courses and training. In addition, the call also explored the existing multilateral engagements both countries have through various regional security frameworks.
These types of interactions have bolstered the defence cooperation and mutual understanding between Brunei Darussalam and the United States of America. Future initiatives to further strengthen the bilateral defence relations as well as military exchanges in general were also discussed.
