BANGKOK, Monday, 3 August 2015 – The Commander of Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), First Admiral Pg Norazmi bin Pg Muhammad and delegation made a three-day Introductory Visit to Bangkok, Thailand from 2 to 4 August 2015.
During the Introductory Visit at the Royal Thai Navy Headquarters, the Commander of RBN was accorded with a Guard of Honor and warmly received by the Commander-In-Chief of Royal Thai Navy, Admiral Kraisorn Chansuvanich. The two Chief of Navies held cordial discussions on fostering bilateral cooperation and interactions between both navies. Exchange of mementoes was made as a symbol of goodwill between the two navies.
Later that morning, the Commander of RBN had made separate Courtesy Calls to Permanent Secretary for Defence, General Sirichai Distakul, and Chief of Defence Forces, Royal Thailand Armed Force, General Worapong Sanganetra.
Subsequently in the evening, First Admiral Pengiran Norazmi and spouse attended a formal dinner hosted by the Commander-In-Chief of Royal Thai Navy and spouse with all senior officers of the Naval Command. First Admiral Pengiran Norazmi took over as the new Commander of RBN in March 2015. The purpose of this visit is to exchange mutual interest and explore new avenues for bilateral navy-to-navy relationship; it also underscores the close and long-standing defence relations between Brunei Darussalam and Thailand.
The relations between the Royal Brunei Navy and the Royal Thai Navy strengthened and nourished over the years through in passage exercises and multilateral training exercises, mutual visits and professional exchanges such as the recent goodwill visit received by the Royal Brunei Navy by HTMS KRABURI and HTMS PATTANI of RTN to Brunei Darussalam in February 2015. This has become an existing platform to enhance the level of professionalism of the two navies and the Royal Brunei Navy and the Royal Thai Navy will always support efforts towards building up the good relationship and proficiency between both navies.
