BOLKIAH GARISON, Monday, 29 June 2015 – The women military personnel of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) today held a Thanksgiving ceremony to celebrate the formation of the RBAF Women’s Company 34th anniversary held at the Ministry of Defence Surau, Bolkiah Garrison.
Present as the Guest of Honour was Lt Col Hajah Asnah binti Haji Matamit, Staff Officer Finance, Ministry of Defence.
Also present at the ceremony were Senior Officers, Officers and other ranks of RBAF services.
The ceremony began with a mass Zohor prayer and then followed by the reading of the Surah Yassin, Tahlil and thanksgiving prayer led by Ustazah Pg Hjh Saadiah Binti Pg Haji Mahmud, Head of Religious Teachers, Women Military Personnel of the RBAF.
The event was highlighted with a special lecture entitled “Muslim Women Heroine” presented by Lt Fatriah binti Noria Haji Abdul Mutalif, Course Officer and guidance, the Department of Religious Affairs, Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
The religious ceremony was conducted to nurture spirituality among women officers and other ranks in conducting their tasks with the blessings from Allah Subhannahu Wa Ta’ala.
The Women Military Company was officially established on 29 June 1981 with a strength of five members of the British women military and a civilian clerk, whilst the first intake consist of 28 locals (6 Officer Cadets and 22 recruits).
The women military role is to provide manpower assistance to the RBAF which is required to replace part of the duties of the male military personnel where necessary to allow male personnel stationed at infantry units where they are needed.
MAJLIS DOA KESYUKURAN ULANG TAHUN ASKAR WANITA ABDB KE 34 TAHUN

GARISON, Isnin, 29 Jun 2015 – Para anggota Askar Wanita, Angkatan
Bersenjata Diraja Brunei (ABDB) mengadakan Majlis Tahlil dan Doa
Kesyukuran sempena penubuhan Kompeni Askar Wanita Ke-34 tahun
berlangsung di Surau Kementerian Pertahanan.
Hadir selaku Tetamu Kehormat Majlis ialah Lt Kol Hajah Asnah binti Haji Matamit, Pegawai Turus Kewangan, Kementerian Pertahanan.
Turut hadir dalam majlis tersebut ialah Pegawai-Pegawai Kanan, Pegawai-pegawai dan lain-lain peringkat dari semua unit Angkatan Tentera ABDB.
Majlis
dimulakan dengan Solat Fardhu Zohor berjemaah dan seterusnya diikuti
dengan bacaan Surah Yassin, Tahlil dan Doa Kesyukuran yang diketuai oleh
Ustazah Pg Hjh Saadiah binti Pg Haji Mahmud, Ketua Guru Ugama, Askar
Wanita ABDB.
Majlis
diserikan dengan ceramah khas bertajuk “Wanita Serikandi Islam” yang
disampaikan oleh Lt Noria Fatriah binti Haji Abdul Mutalif, Pegawai
Kursus dan Bimbingan, Jabatan Agama, ABDB.
Majlis
tersebut bertujuan menyemai semangat kerohanian dalam kalangan pegawai
dan anggota Kompeni Askar Wanita semasa menjalankan tugas agar diredai
Allah Subhanahu Wata’ala.
Kompeni
Askar Wanita ditubuhkan secara rasmi pada 29 Jun 1981 dengan seramai
lima anggota Tentera Wanita British dan seorang kerani awam manakala
pengambilan pertama mengandungi 28 anggota tempatan iaitu 6 pegawai
kadet dan 22 rekrut.
Peranan
anggota Kompeni Askar Wanita ialah membantu anggota tentera lelaki ABDB
di samping dikehendaki menggantikan sebahagian tugas anggota tentera
lelaki yang bersesuaian bagi membolehkan anggota tentera lelaki di
tempatkan dalam unit-unit infantri di mana mereka diperlukan.
