– To mark the beginning of a new era in the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) history, today’s celebration marked another memorable event for RBN with its initial preparation started from early last year 2014.

The RBN, the nation’s pride in protecting the sea, has developed into a well-established and versatile organisation, equipped with modern naval assets and stands.

The RBN is ready to face challenges in order to uphold peace and sovereignty of Brunei Darussalam whilst upholding the “Melayu Islam Beraja” philosophy that accentuated in the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Core Values.

The parade programme began with the accorded General Salute for the Commander of RBN’s arrival, First Admiral Pg Norazmi bin Pg Haji Muhammad. Shortly after the arrival, all attendees focused their attention towards the naval tradition of conducting Colours, and the inspection of the guard of honour. The parade contingent comprised of 214 personnel from the Base, Fleet, Logistic, Training and RBN Band led by Lieutenant Commander Mohd Faizal Ezam bin Haji Abas, RBN.

This was followed by a speech from RBN Commander, in which he applauded all RBN personnel for an amazing parade with full of enthusiasm and discipline. He praised the RBNs advancements in procurement of assets, development of infrastructure and the organization as a whole which all would not be possible with the full dedication, effort, and sacrifice from all RBN personnel. He mentioned with the new vessels RBN is able to show presence in Europe, India and Pacific Ocean to enhance professionalism and diplomatic ties with other nations. He also emphasised on the progress RBN has made over past 50 years, highlighting on the bilateral and multi-lateral exercises, long deployments and enhanced defence diplomacy RBN has been involved since its establishment.

Additionally, he reminded that all RBN personnel must instil the Titah of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, which was to continue endeavouring to further raise the entire performance and image of this institution as befits the motto ‘Loyalty, Commitment, Courage and Professional’ in coming together to meet the challenges of the changing times.

Subsequently the event was followed with the receiving of the Commanding Officer (CO) badges and certificates, Coxswain certificates who have demonstrated outstanding work performance and commitment to RBN as a whole.

Commanding Officer (CO) certificates were awarded to three Commanders, threee Lieutenant Commanders and one Lieutenant. The Commanding Officer(CO) certificates were also awarded to one Commander, and two Lieutenant Commanders who are currently abroad.

The Command Badge was also presented to three Lieutenants where two of the officers are currently abroad.

A Coxsain certificate was also presented to Chief Petty Officer Haji Azmain bin Hai Awang, RBN Coxsain KDB Puni.

Present during the event was Commander Haji Othman Bin Haji Suhaili@Suhaily, RBN Deputy Commander, RBN Fleet Commander, senior officers, officers, enlisted personnel of RBN and in-service officers serving outside of the RBN.

Accordingly, after the parade the Commander of RBN led the cutting of the cake to commemorate the Golden Jubilee. The final programme to an eventful day was a constructed group photo depicting the number “50” comprising of approximately 400 RBN personnel.
