MUARA, Wednesday 10 June 2015 – Dato Paduka Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat, the Acting Minister of Defence attended as guest of honour at a Commemorative Ceremony at the Brunei – Australia Memorial to honor Australian Servicemen who fought and died in North Borneo during World War II.
The commemorative address was presented by the Honorable Michael Ronaldson, Minister for Veteran’s Affairs Minister Assisting The Prime Minister For The Centenary Of Anzac, Special Minister Of State who is on a three days visit to Brunei Darussalam from 8 – 10 June 2015.
The Acting Minister of Defence and Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah, Commander of RBAF officially laid the wreath at the memorial site.
A total of eight Australian war veterans were flown in by the Australian government to witness the commemorative service at the memorial stands at the site of the second landing of Australian troops on Borneo [Oboe 6] at Muara, Brunei.
