MELBOURNE, Tuesday 24 February 2015 –The Commander of the Royal Brunei Air Force, Brigadier General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Wardi bin Haji Abdul Latip attended the Australian International Airshow and Aerospace & Defence Exposition 2015 (AVALON 2015) from 24 to 26 February 2015.
It was held in Avalon Airport, Geelong, Victoria from 24 February to 1 March 2015. The Australian International Airshow 2015 paid honour to Anzac and the heroes of military aviation, as the theme called ‘Heroes of the Sky’. This was the first significant observance of the Gallipoli campaign in its centenary year. Airshow 2015 also showcased a massive array of the latest military heavy metal from Australia and overseas including super sonic jet fighters and attack helicopters.
The Avalon show has a proven track record over eleven consecutive events. Held every two years, it is well established as a regular feature on the world aviation, aerospace and defence calendar. The show is the nation’s largest and most comprehensive aviation, aerospace and defence exposition. It encompasses the full range of military and civil aviation and aerospace, as well as air and land defence. The Avalon show is presented with major support from the Australian Defence Force (in particular the Royal Australian Air Force) and the Defence Materiel Organisation of the Department of Defence.
The event is also extensively supported by other Australian Government agencies, industry organisations and aviation associations. The Australian International Airshow and Aerospace & Defence Exposition at Avalon comprise two separate, but concurrent, events – the Australian International Airshow and the Australian International Aerospace & Defence Exposition.
During the visit. the Commander of Royal Brunei Air Force made a number of courtesy calls to other Chiefs of Air Force including Air Marshal Geoff Brown, Chief of Air Force, Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). The calls provided an opportunity to further strengthen cooperation in air force relations between Brunei Darussalam and Australia as well as to discuss future defence ties between both air forces.
