RIMBA, Tuesday 10 February 2015 – His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifudien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Minister of Defence and Supreme Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) has consented to award the Commander-in-Chief, Air Chief Marshal Treetod Sonjance, with the Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF) Honorary Pilot Wing.
The official award ceremony took place at the Royal Brunei Air Force Headquarters in Rimba this morning. This award is a symbol of recognition for his valuable efforts and outstanding services he has been contributing in strengthening the ties between the RBAirF and Royal Thai Air Force.
During the auspicious event, the RBAirF Honorary Pilot Wing was presented by the Acting Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit.
Prior to the Honorary Wing Presentation Ceremony, Air Chief Marshal Treetod Sonjance received the Guard of Honour from the RBAirF personnel.
Amongst the programmes outlined during the introductory visit by Air Chief Marshal Treetod Sonjance includes courtesy calls to the Deputy Minister of Defence, Dato Paduka Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat, the Acting Commander of RBAF, First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz Haji Mohd Tamit at Bolkiah Garrison and the Commander of RBAirF, Brigadier General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Wardi bin Abdul Latip at the RBAirF Headquarters.
Air Chief Marshal Treetod Sonjance became the 23rd Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Air Force on 1 October 2014. As a graduate from the Bundeswehr University Munich in the Federal Republic of Germany, Air Chief Marshal Treetod has brought his outstanding academic achievement into his profound military career. In addition to his flying skill, his professionalism also covers other various branches of career paths. According to his policy as the new leadership of the Royal Thai Air Force, he is determined to continue with the vision in becoming “One of the Best Air Forces in ASEAN” through the strategic guideline of the Network Centric Air Force.
Air Chief Marshal Treetod Sonjance is married to Group Captain Udomluck Sonjance, WRTAF. Air Chief Marshal Sonjance and his wife as well as his delegations are in the sultanate for the introductory visit for one day.
