BOLKIAH GARRISON, Friday 26 December 2014 – Joint Force Headquarters, Royal Brunei Armed Forces (JFHQ RBAF) this morning held a handover ceremony for the newly appointed Joint Force Commander (JFC) at the Tower Block, Ministry of Defence.
At the handover ceremony, the newly appointed Joint Force Commander of Joint Force Headquarters 318 Colonel (U) Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sahat took over the position from 259 Colonel Haji Zainal Ariffin bin Dato Paduka Haji Ahmad.
Prior to the handover, the former JFC took the opportunity to congratulate JFHQ for its 7th anniversary of establishment, and he urged JFHQ to raise their level of professionalism so that it can weather vagaries and volatility of complex issues which are forthcoming with courage and dignity. The former JFC also expressed his gratitude on behalf of his spouse for the strong cooperation and continuous commitment of the Wives Associations BAKTI RBAF during his long service in the Royal Brunei Armed Forces. He believes that the success of BAKTI to be an effective and successful association have come from the endless support from the male spouses.
In addition, he is also grateful for the opportunity to lead JFCQ, and is satisfied with the discipline of members of JFCQ without causing any friction despite the requirements that cannot be fairly achieved, however it will be duly note, and will be pursued to the fullest by the suitability of the matter to be resolved. He also advised personnel to continue to follow orders, communicate and consult with the higher authorities for each of any arising issues. Finally he hoped JFCQ RBAF will continue their strong cooperation and support given to the new Joint Force Commander.
The handover ceremony was officially made with the signing of handover certificate by the outgoing commander who had then handed over the duty to the new commander. Colonel (U) Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sahat will begin his appointment as the 4th Joint Force Commander, JFHQ RBAF, effective from 26th December 2014. He had previously held the post of Chief of Staff JFHQ from 2010-2012 and Deputy Commander of Royal Brunei Air Force from 2012- 2014.
The ceremony concluded with a photo session for all JFHQ personnel followed by a farewell handshake with the former JFC. Present during the ceremony were Senior Officers, Officers and other ranks of the Joint Force Headquarters.
