BERAKAS, Saturday 6 December 2014 – The Brunei Muara District was the overall champion of 2nd Brunei Darussalam National Games, SKBD 2014. The team received a challenge trophy and cash prize of $5,000.
The games organised by the Youth and Sports Department, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports
started on 29 November ended today.
The prizes were presented by the Minister of Communication, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Hamzah Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdullah bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Haji Bakar.
The Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council was in second place while the Tutong District team was in third.
Mohd Fida’iy bin Haji Sanif from Telecommunication and IT Companies and Fatin Nur Ashikin binti Abu Bakar from Brunei Muara District team have been selected as the best athlete in male and female categories respectively. Both received a trophy and cash prize of $500 each.
A total of 23 events were competed in the sports meet which involved more 3,000 officers and athletes.
Meanwhile, the indoor tug-of-war took place prior the closing ceremony. For 680-kilogram category was won by the Brunei Muara district contingent. Second place went to the Belait district contingent and third place was shared by the Tutong district and the RBAF Sports Council.
