MENTIRI, Wednesday 3 December 2014 – The Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) and Brunei-Muara dominated the golfing event of the 2nd Brunei Darussalam National Games after each teams managed to grab two gold medals yesterday.
The gold medals for MS ABDB were from the Individual Nett and Team Nett categories.
In the Team Nett category, MS ABDB took first place with a combined score of 633 while second place went to Tutong District (643) and Royal Brunei (RB) Airlines won the bronze medal.
In the Individual Nett category, MS ABDB’s Kpt Haji Wadi Wadira bin Haji Mohd Wahid outshone the rest of the field to win the gold medal with a score of 205 followed by Mohd Herman bin Abdul Manaf of RB (206) and Kpt Mohd Khairol Hadizam of MS ABDB with a score of 210.
Brunei-Muara won both the gold medals in the Team Gross and Individual Gross categories.
In the Team Gross category, Brunei-Muara captured the gold medal with a combined score of 682. The silver medal went to MS ABDB (710) while Tutong (715) won the bronze medal.
In the Individual Gross category, Brunei-Muara golfers made a clean sweep of the podium. Youngster Qaqin bin Hj Aslimon carded a total of 153 OCB to bag the gold medal. Haji Arifian bin Haji Abdul Kadir (153) took the silver and Haji Seruji bin Haji Setia won the bronze medal.
Present as the guest-of-honour was Haji Mohd Noor Jusmin bin Haji Abdul Samad, the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. Also attending the ceremony was Pg Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha bin Pg Metasan, the chairperson of the organising committee.
