SINGAPORE, Monday 17 November 2014 – Commander of Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF), who is also the Acting Deputy Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), Brigadier General Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Yussof bin Haji Abdul Rahman called on Republic of Singapore Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen at the Ministry of Defence in Singapore this afternoon. Brigadier General Dato Yussof is in Singapore on a farewell visit from 17 to 18 November 2014.
He had earlier call on Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General Ng Chee Meng and inspected a Guard-of-Honour contingent.
Brigadier General Dato Yussof will also be hosted by Chief of Army Major General Perry Lim to an official dinner.
The visit by Brigadier General Dato Yussof underscores the close and long-standing defence relationship between Brunei and Singapore. The RBLF and the Singapore Army interact regularly through annual bilateral exercises, courses, as well as professional exchanges. These interactions not only enhance the professionalism of the two armies, but also strengthen mutual understanding and personal friendships. Brigadier General Dato Yussof was conferred Singapore’s prestigious military award, the Pingat Jasa Gemilang (Tentera) [or Meritorious Service Medal (Military)] in March 2012 for his contributions in deepening relations between the two armies.
