CARAT is a series of bilateral exercises held annually in Southeast Asia to strengthen relationships and enhance force readiness.
The first topic of presentation “Introduction to Shari’ah Law” was delivered by
two invited speakers, Haji Afif Daraina bin Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Badaruddin from Attorney General’s Chamber and Hajah Norhartijah binti Haji Puteh from Brunei Islamic Legal Unit, Prime Minister’s Office.The presentation was to give our US counterparts a more solid understanding of the Shariah Law that has been implemented in Brunei Darussalam.
Other topics covered at the last day of symposium included military journalism and public affairs fundamentals. B
oth presentations were presented by a representative from the U.S. Navy.The two days MILOPS Symposium started yesterday. The first day of the symposium deliberated on operational and policy matters with regard to maritime security by the representatives from both countries. Both symposium were held at the Multi National Coordination Centre (MNCC) in MUARA.
Apart from sharing information and discussions on current issues, the symposium is a platform for officers from not just the Royal Brunei Armed Forces and US Navy but for various government agencies such as the Prime Minister’s Office, the Royal Brunei Police Force, National Maritime Coordination Centre, Attorney General’s Chamber, Fisheries Department and Ports Department to enhance relationship and strengthen ties with each other in a conducive learning environment.
