BRUNEI-MUARA, Monday, 12 June 2017 – Five local fishermen who were drifting at sea after their boat had engine failure were rescued by KDB AFIAT, 10 nautical miles northeast from Champion Oilfield early this morning.
The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) ship was on patrol on when it received the report of the stranded boat at 0132.
KDB AFIAT activated a Search and Rescue mission and successfully located the fishermen at 0200. All five locals were in good health when rescued. Their boat was later towed back to Muara and the fishermen were presented to the Marine Police of the Royal Brunei Police Force at 0530.
The rescue was the second successful operation made by the RBN ship in June. Previously a similar rescue was made on 5 June 2017.
KDB AFIAT MENYELAMATKAN LIMA NELAYAN TEMPATAN
BRUNEI-MUARA, Isnin, 12 Jun 2017 – Lima nelayan tempatan yang terdampar di laut setelah perahu mereka mengalami kerosakan enjin telah diselamatkan oleh KDB AFIAT, 10 batu nautika timur laut dari Champion Oilfield pada awal pagi tadi.
Kapal Tentera Laut Diraja Brunei (TLDB) sedang membuat rondaan maritim apabila ia menerima laporan mengenai kapal tersebut pada 0132.
KDB AFIAT seterusnya membuat misi Mencari dan Menyelamat dan berjaya menemui nelayan-nelayan tersebut pada 0200. Kelima-limanya berada dalam keadaan sihat ketika ditemui. Kapal mereka turut ditarik ke Muara and nelayan-nelayan tersebut diserahkan kepada Polis Marin, Polis Diraja Brunei.
Misi tersebut merupakan operasi menyelamat kedua yang dilaksanakan oleh TLDB pada bulan Jun ini. Sebelum ini, misi menyelamat yang sama telah dibuat pada 5 Jun 2017.
