BOLKIAH GARRISON, Thursday 12 January 2017 – First Admiral (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit, the Deputy Minister of Defence today received a courtesy call from Lieutenant General Bai Wenqi, the Deputy Political Commissar of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Northern Theater and Commander and Political Commissar of the Air Force, who is leading the Chinese PLA delegation in a goodwill visit to Brunei Darussalam.
During the call, the Deputy Minister of Defence expressed his delight on the good state of relations between the defence establishments of Brunei Darussalam and China and also looks forward to more exchanges and interactions of mutual benefit that can further strengthen defence cooperation between both countries.
Cooperation in the field of defence is seen as one of the important pillars of bilateral relations between Brunei Darussalam and China. This was cemented with the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on Military Exchanges on 12 September 2003. Activities symbolising the good state of defence and military ties include the regular exchange of visits, meetings, courses, as well as cooperation through various multilateral defence and security platforms.
Brunei Darussalam and China marked their 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2016.
Also present during the call was Captain (Rtd) Abd Rahman bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Haji Bakar, RBN, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Defence.
TIMBALAN MENTERI PERTAHANAN MENERIMA KUNJUNGAN HORMAT DARIPADA DELEGASI PEOPLE’S LIBERATION ARMY, REPUBLIK RAKYAT CHINA
BOLKIAH GARISON, Khamis 12 Januari 2017 – Laksamana Pertama (B) Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit, Timbalan Menteri Pertahanan pada hari ini menerima kunjungan hormat daripada Leftenan Jeneral Bai Wenqi, Deputy Political Commissar of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Northern Theater and Commander and Political Commissar of the Air Force, yang mengetuai delegasi PLA dari Republik Rakyat China dalam lawatan muhibah ke Negara Brunei Darussalam.
Semasa kunjungan hormat tersebut, Timbalan Menteri Pertahanan merakamkan rasa puas hati atas hubungan pertahanan yang baik di antara Negara Brunei Darussalam dan China. Melihat kepada haluan di masa hadapan, beliau juga berharap lebih banyak pertukaran dan interaksi akan dikendalikan ke arah mengukuhkan lagi kerjasama pertahanan antara kedua-dua negara.
Kerjasama dalam bidang pertahanan merupakan salah sebuah tunggak utama dalam hubungan dua hala secara keseluruhannya. Ini telah diperkukuhkan berikutan penandatanganan Memorandum Persefahaman mengenai Pertukaran Ketenteraan pada 12 September 2003. Secara amnya, hubungan pertahanan telah diperkuatkan melalui pelbagai aktiviti termasuk pertukaran lawatan, mesyuarat, kursus, serta interaksi-interaksi melalui landasan pelbagai hala.
Negara Brunei Darussalam dan China telah menyambut ulang tahun hubungan diplomatik yang ke-25 pada tahun 2016.
