​SINGAPORE, Wednesday 9 November 2016 – The Deputy Minister of Defence, First Admiral (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit was in Singapore for an official visit from 9 to 11 November 2016 to commemorate the 40th year of defence relations between the two countries.

On 10 November 2016 the Deputy Minister of Defence paid a courtesy call to the Minister for Defence of Singapore, His Excellency Dr. Ng Eng Hen, at MINDEF Building, Gombak Drive. Upon his arrival, First Admiral (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz was welcomed by the Minister and inspected a Guard of Honour mounted by the personnel of the Singapore Armed Forces.  During the call both reaffirmed the special and enduring defence relationship. They also expressed their satisfaction at the quality of cooperation between the defence organisations of the two countries that has been elevated significantly through multiple platforms. At lunch hosted by the Minister for Defence of Singapore, they discussed regional and international security issues of mutual concern.

As part of the overall visit programme, The Deputy Minister also visited Murai Urban Training Facility (MUTF), Cyber Security Agency (CSA) of Singapore and the Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) Intergrated Complex. At MUTF he was hosted by Brigadier General Desmond Tan Kok Ming, the Chief of Staff General Staff of the SAF and had the opportunity to observe Officer Cadets of the RBAF and the SAF conducting a joint training on Urban Operations. He later mingled with the cadets and members of staff of both the RBAF OCS and the MUTF. At CSA and DSTA, he was briefed on the functions of the two organisations followed by a tour of the facilities.
 
On the last day of the visit, the Deputy Minister had a tour of 125 Squadron of the Republic of Singapore Air Force where the Deputy Minister was hosted by Major General Mervyn Tan, Chief of the Republic of Singapore Air Force. The last activity of the programme was the visit to Mandai Hill Camp, where the Deputy Minister was hosted by the Chief of Defence Force of Singapore, Lieutenant General Dato Paduka Seri Perry Lim. During this visit, the Deputy Minister witnessed the conduct of Exercise Maju Bersama between the Royal Brunei Land Force and the Singapore Army.

 
Brunei Darussalam and Singapore have long established and nurtured the defence relationship to the state it is at today. The defence organisations of the two countries worked closely together to achieve very positive outcomes. In May 2015 members of the RBAF joined their SAF counterparts in an HADR operation in Nepal. Through the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM) and the ADMM-Plus platforms, the two sides successfully co-hosted the ADMM-Plus Experts’ Working Group (EWG) exercises on Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief and Military Medicine in 2013 and, most recently, on ADMM-Plus Maritime Security and Counter-Terrorism Exercise last May.
 
The visit ended on a high note with both sides reaffirming their commitments to advance further the relationship.




LAWATAN RASMI TIMBALAN MENTERI PERTAHANAN KE SINGAPURA



SINGAPURA, Rabu 9 November 2016 - Timbalan Menteri Pertahanan, Laksamana Pertama (B) Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit telah membuat lawatan rasmi ke Republik Singapura dari 8 hingga 11 November 2016 bagi memperingati ulang tahun hubungan pertahanan yang ke-40 di antara kedua-dua negara.

Pada 10 November 2016, Timbalan Menteri Pertahanan telah membuat kunjungan hormat kepada Menteri Pertahanan Republik Singapura, Tuan Yang Terutama Dr. Ng Eng Hen bertempat di Bangunan MINDEF, Gombak Drive. Sejurus ketibaan beliau, Laksamana Pertama (B) Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz disambut oleh Tuan Yang Terutama dan diberi penghormatan untuk memeriksa kawalan kehormatan daripada anggota-anggota Angkatan Bersenjata Republik Singapura (ABRS).

Semasa kunjungan tersebut, kedua belah pihak mengesahkan hubungan pertahanan yang istimewa dan sudah sekian lama terjalin. Mereka juga melahirkan rasa puas hati di atas kualiti kerjasama yang ada di antara organisasi-organisasi pertahanan kedua negara yang telah dipertingkatkan melalui pelbagai landasan. Ketika jamuan tengahari yang dihoskan oleh Menteri Pertahanan Republik Singapura, mereka juga berbincang mengenai isu-isu keselamatan serantau dan antarabangsa yang mempunyai kepentingan bersama.

Sebagai sebahagian daripada program lawatan tersebut, Timbalan Menteri Pertahanan juga membuat lawatan ke Murai Urban Training Facility (MUTF), Agensi Sekuriti Siber (CSA) Republik Singapura dan Agensi Teknologi dan Sains Pertahanan (DSTA) Integrated Complex. Di MUTF, beliau disambut oleh Ketua Staf (Staf Am) ABRS, Brigedier Jeneral Desmond Tan Kok Ming dan berkesempatan untuk menyaksikan pegawai kadet Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei (ABDB) dan ABRS mengendalikan latihan bersama dalam Urban Operations. Beliau juga turut berinteraksi bersama kadet-kadet and ahli-ahli anggota daripada Pegawai Sekolah Kadet ABDB dan MUTF. Di CSA dan DSTA, beliau telah diberikan taklimat mengenai fungsi-fungsi organisasi diikuti dengan lawatan ke fasiliti-fasiliti organisasi tersebut.

Pada hari terakhir lawatan, Timbalan Menteri Pertahanan telah melawat ke 125 Skuadron Tentera Udara Republik Singapura dimana Timbalan Menteri Pertahanan telah dihoskan oleh Panglima Tentera Udara Republik Singapura, Mejar Jeneral Mervyn Tan. Aktiviti terakhir adalah program lawatan ke Mandai Hill Camp, dimana Timbalan Menteri Pertahanan telah disambut oleh Panglima Pasukan Pertahanan, Leftenan Jeneral Dato Paduka Seri Perry Lim untuk menyaksikan pengendalian Eksesais Maju Bersama di antara Tentera Darat Diraja Brunei (TDDB) dan Tentera Singapura.



Negara Brunei Darussalam dan Republik Singapura telah kian lama menubuhkan dan memupuk hubungan pertahanan dua hala sehinggalah mencapai tahap yang sedia ada pada hari ini. Organisasi-organisasi pertahanan kedua negara telah berkerjasama dengan rapat untuk mencapai hasil-hasil yang amat positif. Pada bulan Mei 2015, beberapa ahli-ahli anggota ABDB telah menyertai rakan mereka daripada ABRS dalam operasi Bantuan Kemanusiaan dan Bencana Alam di Nepal. Melalui Mesyuarat Menteri-Menteri Pertahanan ASEAN (ADMM) dan landasan-landasan ADMM-Plus, kedua buah negara juga berjaya menganjurkan bersama eksesais ADMM-Plus Experts’ Working Group (EWG) dalam Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief and Military Medicine pada tahun 2013 dan yang terkini, di dalam eksesais ADMM-Plus Maritime Security and Counter-Terrorism pada bulan Mei yang lepas.

Lawatan tersebut telah berakhir dengan jayanya dimana kedua buah pihak menekankan semula komitment mereka untuk terus meningkatkan hubungan pertahanan di antara kedua-dua buah negara.
