BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Friday 7 October 2016 – Brunei Darussalam is currently hosting the 29th Executive Board Meeting and 16th General Assembly of the Veterans Confederation of ASEAN Countries (VECONAC) from the 6 October until 10 October 2016 at the Gadong Centre Point Hotel.
The guest of honour, the Acting Minister of Defence, First Admiral (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit in his speech at the opening ceremony of the General Assembly and the Executive Board Meeting emphasised the significance of the confederation and praised them for their contributions both in their active military service and after their retirement.
In the ceremony, the Acting Defence Minister and the Commander or Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Mejar Jeneral Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah also presented the VECONAC’s Awards for Honorary President and Medal of Honour to past and present presidents in recognizing their commitment and leadership in fulfilling VECONAC’s aspiration to protect and promote the welfare of veterans.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Khamis 7 Oktober 2016 – Persatuan Bekas Perajurit Negara Brunei Darussalam (PBPND) sedang mengendalikan Mesyuarat Badan Eksekutif ke-29 dan Perhimpunan Agung Persekutuan Veteran Negara-Negara ASEAN (VECONAC) ke-16 dari 6 Oktober hingga 10 2016 di ibu negara.
Tetamu Kehormat Majlis, Pemangku Menteri Pertahanan, Laksamana Pertama (B) Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit berucap pada majlis pembukaan rasmi Mesyuarat VECONAC pagi tadi di Hotel Centre Point Gadong memperingatkan kemuliaan sumbangan ahli-ahli VECONAC samada semasa dalam perkhidmatan tentera walaupun setelah bersara.
Pada majlis tersebut Pemangku Menteri Pertahanan dan Pemerintah Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei, Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Mejar Jeneral Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah juga menyampaikan Anugerah Presiden Kehormat dan Pingat Kehormat VECONAC kepada pemimpin persatuan yang terdahulu dan masa kini.
