BOLKIAH GARRISON, Friday 3 June 2016 – A delegation from the National Institute for Defense Studies (NIDS) from Japan was in Brunei Darussalam for a three days study-tour from 2-4 June 2016.
During the visit to the Ministry of Defence, the head of delegation, Captain Tetsuo Ando and his delegation received a briefing on the functions and roles of the Ministry of Defence and the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Brunei Darussalam’s defence policies, the Defence Academy as well as an overview of the regional security environment. Representatives from NIDS made presentations of security challenges that were facing Japan and the region.
This is the first time NIDS came to visit MINDEF and provides both institutes an opportunity to exchange views on defence cooperation and regional security environment. The delegation then made a visit to the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Museum at the Bolkiah Garrison.
