BOLKIAH GARRISON, Tuesday 3 May 2016 – The Deputy Minister of Defence, First Admiral (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit this morning received a courtesy call from Vice Admiral Widodo, Secretary General, Ministry of Defence Republic of Indonesia, at Bolkiah Garrison.
Vice Admiral Widodo is in Brunei Darussalam from 2 to 4 April to witness the ADMM-Plus Maritime Security and Counter Terrorism (MSCT) Exercise. Indonesia’s contributions for the MSCT Exercise include one ship (KRI Sultan Iskandar Muda) and liaison officers at Exercise Planning Control Team (EPCT).
Also present during the call was Datin Paduka Hajah Suriyah binti Haji Umar, Permanent Secretary and Abu Sufian bin Haji Ali, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Defence Policy and Development).
During the call, Deputy Minister of Defence welcomed Vice Admiral Widodo first visit to the Ministry of Defence and also congratulated Vice Admiral Widodo’s appointment as the Secretary General of Indonesia’s Ministry of Defence since 11 February 2016.
Both sides also discussed on regional issues and their commitment to strengthening the existing bilateral defence relation at all levels, through exercises, courses, exchange of visits, joint training and dialogue between defence institutions of the two countries.
The call ended with an exchange of mementos between the Deputy Minister and the Vice Admiral Widodo.
