BOLKIAH GARRISON, Monday 2 May 2016 – Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) received a courtesy call from Commander Jayant Mahadik, Commanding Officer of the Indian Naval Ship (INS) Airawat. The INS Airawat is in Brunei Darussalam for the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting Maritime Security and Counter Terrorism (ADMM-Plus MS & CT) Exercise, which has commenced today and is co-hosted by the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF).
During the call, RBAF Commander welcomed the Commanding Officer of INS Airawat and his crew to Brunei Darussalam and expressed his gratitude for the constant support given by the Government of India to the RBAF, especially for this ADMM-Plus MS & CT Exercise.
INS Airawat was commissioned in 2009 whereby Brunei Darussalam was its first international deployment. Discussions also focused on the warm bilateral defence relationship between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of India, as well as the challenges faced by both countries regionally.
