SERIA, Friday, 29 April 2015 – Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah, Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) and delegation made a visit to the British Forces Brunei (BFB) at the 1 Royal Gurkha Rifles, Seria.
The visit was hosted by Lieutenant Colonel J P Davies, the Commanding Officer of the BFB. Also present during the visit was His Excellency David Ian Campbell, High Commissioner of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Brunei Darussalam, as well as Colonel Mike Page, the Defence Adviser of the United Kingdom. The aim of the visit was to refresh and familiarise RBAF Commander to the BFB.
Upon arrival at the BFB, RBAF Commander and delegation were greeted by the Commanding Officer of the BFB and his staff, before inspecting a Guard of Honour. RBAF Commander then received a brief about the roles and responsibilities of the BFB, and was shown some of the facilities and equipments used.
Commander RBAF and delegation then proceeded to the Jungle Training School to receive a brief conducted by Major A D E Wade, the Officer Commanding Training Team Brunei. The Jungle Training School conducts two courses each year: Jungle Warfare Instructors Course (JWIC), and the Operational Tracking Instructors Course (OTIC). From 2013 to date, the Jungle Training School has had 13 Officers, 7 Sergeants and 17 Corporals from the RBAF.
During the visit, discussions mainly focused on the opportunities for further partnership and collaboration between the RBAF and the BFB, along with exchange of experiences of joint exercises and Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR).
