BOLKIAH GARRISON, Monday 14 March 2016 – The Deputy Minister of Defence, First Admiral (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit received a courtesy call from His Excellency Chan Yeng Kit, Permanent Secretary (Defence), Ministry of Defence, Republic of Singapore.
During the courtesy call, both sides expressed satisfaction on the excellent bilateral defence relations shared by the two countries, which are enhanced by regular exchange of visits, trainings and courses, joint military exercises, and interaction programmes. Brunei Darussalam and Singapore will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of its bilateral defence relations this year.
Permanent Secretary (Defence) Chan Yeng Kit is in Brunei Darussalam for the 5th Brunei Darussalam – Republic of Singapore Defence Policy Dialogue (DPD) which will be held tomorrow.
Inaugurated in 2009, the DPD serves as a regular forum for both countries to oversee and progress the bilateral defence relationship, as well as explore new areas of defence cooperation. The DPD also gives an opportunity to exchange views on security issues of mutual interest.
