BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Saturday 20 February 2016 – The Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien becomes the focal point for this year 32nd National Day Celebration.
The final rehearsal for the Traditional Assembly and Parade for the event was staged this morning to ensure the actual celebration run smoothly.
Based on the theme, ‘Generasi Berwawasan’ the rehearsal saw more than 21,000 participants where the majority of the participants are youths who represent various ministries and government departments, education institutes, uniform organisations and non-government associations. They will be the successor’s generations and future leaders. The national day assembly will be the measurement of their commitments and responsibilities towards the country.
This year more than 126 teams will participate in the march pass with 1132 personnel from the RBAF. The Ministry of Defence participate with 150 personnel led by Datin Paduka Hajah Suriyah binti Haji Umar, Permanent Secretary at Ministry of Defence bearing the national flags joined the marching parade. Also joining the march past was Awang Abu Sufian bin Haji Ali, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Defence Policy and Development), Captain (Rtd) Haji Mohd Amirul Shahnoel bin Haji Mohd Noeh, Deputy Permanent (Technology), Directors, senior officers, officers and staffs of Ministry of Defence.
Present to watch the rehearsal was Yang Amat Mulia Pg Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pg Anak Haji Abdul Aziz bin Pg Jaya Negara Pg Haji Abu Bakar, Yang Di-Pertua of the Adat Istiadat Negara; Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yusof, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Dato Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah, Royal Brunei Armed Forces Commander and Dato Paduka Seri Haji Bahrin bin Mohd Noor, Commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police Force.
