REPUBLIC OF PHILIPPINES, Friday, 8 June 2018 – Major General Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) conducted an introductory visit to the Republic of Philippines from 6 to 8 June 2018.
Accompanying the Commander were officers from the RBAF as well as a senior officer from the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF).
The visit is an opportunity for both countries to reaffirm the existing bilateral military ties and cooperation. In addition, Commander of RBAF also made a visit to Mindanao, the Republic of Philippines, to visit the International Monitoring Team (IMT) contingent.
While at the capital, Major General Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Aminan and delegation made courtesy calls on the Honourable Deflin Lorenzana, the Secretary of National Defence, General Carlito G. Galvez Jr, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Philippines at the Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City. Both sides reiterated their pleasure at the excellent military relations and agreed to venture into more avenues of cooperation to further strengthen the long-standing military-to-military ties.
In Cotabato City, Mindanao, the Commander of RBAF and delegation made a call on Brigadier General Cirilito Sobejana, Commander of the 6th Infantry Division at the 6th Infantry Division Headquarters. The Commander of RBAF and his delegation also had the opportunity to visit the IMT Team Site 1, where the delegation members were briefed on the latest situation in Mindanao. A meeting was also held with the Chief of Staff of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), the Honourable Sammy Al-Mansoor.
In conjunction with the holy month of Ramadhan 1439H, the Commander distributed His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s personal donation of ‘Safawi’ dates to the people of Mindanao and the Al-Quran ‘Mushaf Al-Watsiqa Billah’ to the Grand Mosque.
Brunei Darussalam’s uniformed personnel have been deployed to IMT since 2004. The IMT mission has provided substantial operational experience for both the RBAF and RBPF. Brunei Darussalam’s current contingent of the IMT comprises of eight RBAF personnel and a personnel from the RBPF, and is headed by Lieutenant Colonel (U) Radhuan bin Haji Abd Hamid.
KUNJUNGAN PENGENALAN PEMERINTAH ABDB KE REPUBLIK FILIPINA
REPUBLIK FILIPINA, Jumaat, 8 Jun 2018 – Mejar Jeneral Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Pemerintah Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei (ABDB) mengadakan kunjungan pengenalan ke Republik Filipina dari 6 hingga 8 Jun 2018.
Lawatan pengenalan ini adalah satu peluang bagi kedua-dua negara untuk mengesahkan lagi hubungan ketenteraan dan kerjasama tentera dua hala yang sedia ada. Di samping itu, Pemerintah ABDB juga membuat lawatan ke Mindanao, Republik Filipina untuk melawat kontinjen Pasukan Pemantauan Antarabangsa.
Semasa di ibu negara, Pemerintah ABDB dan rombongan telah membuat kunjungan hormat kepada Yang Berhormat Deflin Lorenzana, Setiausaha Pertahanan Republik Filipina dan kunjungan muhibbah kepada Jeneral Carlito G. Galvez Jr, Ketua Staf Angkatan Bersenjata Republik Filipina di Perkhemahan General Emilio Aguinaldo, Bandar Quezon. Kedua belah pihak amat gembira dengan status hubungan ketenteraan dua hala yang sangat baik dan bersetuju untuk bekerjasama bagi mengeratkan lagi hubungan kerjasama tersebut.
Semasa lawatan ke Mindanao, Pemerintah ABDB dan rombongan telah membuat kunjungan muhibbah kepada Brigadier Jeneral Cirilito Sobejana, Pemerintah 6th Infantry Division di Markas 6th Infantry Division. Pemerintah ABDB dan rombongan juga berpeluang melawat Pasukan Pemantauan Antarabangsa Team Site 1, di mana Pemerintah ABDB dan rombongan telah diberikan taklimat mengenai keadaan terkini di Mindanao. Satu perjumpaan juga telah diadakan dengan Ketua Staf Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), Yang Berhormat Sammy Al-Mansoor.
Sempena bulan Ramadhan 1439H, Pemerintah ABDD juga menyampaikan Derma Bantuan Kurnia Peribadi Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan dan Yang Di-Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam berupa Kurma ‘Safawi’ kepada penduduk Mindanao dan Al-Quran ‘Mushaf Al-Watsiqa Billah’ ke Grand Mosque.
Pegawai-pegawai dan anggota-anggota Negara Brunei Darussalam telah ditugaskan ke Pasukan Pemantauan Antarabangsa sejak tahun 2004. Misi Pasukan Pemantauan Antarabangsa telah memberi pengalaman operasi kepada anggota-anggota ABDB dan PPDB. Kontinjen Negara Brunei Darussalam pada masa ini terdiri daripada lapan anggota ABDB dan seorang anggota PPDB, dan diketuai oleh Leftenan Kolonel (U) Radhuan bin Haji Abd Hamid.
