PERTH, AUSTRALIA, Friday, 2 February 2018 – Senator The Honourable Marise Payne, Minister for Defence of Australia hosted the Sub-Regional Defence Ministers’ Meeting on Counter-Terrorism which was held in Perth today. Representing Brunei Darussalam was The Honourable Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister of Defence II.
Also in attendance at the meeting were His Excellency General (Retired) Ryamizard Ryacudu, Minister of Defence of Republic of Indonesia; His Excellency Delfin Negrillo Lorenzana, Secretary of Defense of Republic of the Philippines; His Excellency Dato’ Sri Mohd Johari bin Baharum, Deputy Minister of Defence, Malaysia; His Excellency Dr. Mohamad Maliki Osman, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Singapore; and His Excellency General Chaichan Changmongkol, Deputy Minister of Defence, Kingdom of Thailand.
In her welcoming remarks, Senator The Honourable Marise Payne highlighted Australia’s commitment to work together with sub-regional partners represented by six Southeast Asian countries in the fight against terrorism. Recognising that terrorism pose a rising challenge to the region, the meeting took the opportunity to share and exchange views, and to step up cooperation to fight the common threat of terrorism.
The Ministers and representatives also had the opportunity to visit Campbell Barracks for Special Operations Command (SOCOMD) Counter-Terrorism Demonstration.
MESYUARAT MENTERI-MENTERI PERTAHANAN SUB-REGIONAL MENGENAI ANTI-PENGGANASAN
PERTH, AUSTRALIA, Jumaat, 2 Februari 2018 – Yang Berhormat Marise Payne, Menteri Pertahanan Australia menghoskan Mesyuarat Menteri-Menteri Pertahanan Sub-Regional mengenai Anti-Pengganasan yang diadakan di Perth pada hari ini. Mewakili Negara Brunei Darussalam adalah Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Mejar Jeneral (B) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Menteri Pertahanan II.
Turut hadir ialah Tuan Yang Terutama Jeneral (B) Ryamizard Ryacudu, Menteri Pertahanan Republik Indonesia; Tuan Yang Terutama Delfin Negrillo Lorenzana, Setiausaha Pertahanan Republik Filipina; Tuan Yang Terutama Dato’ Sri Mohd Johari bin Baharum, Timbalan Menteri Pertahanan Malaysia; Tuan Yang Terutama Dr Mohamad Maliki Osman, Menteri Negara Kanan, Kementerian Pertahanan dan Kementerian Hal Ehwal Luar Negeri, Republik Singapura; dan Tuan Yang Terutama Jeneral Chaichan Changmongkol, Timbalan Menteri Pertahanan Thailand.
Mesyuarat bermula dengan ucapan alu-aluan oleh Yang Berhormat Marise Payne, di mana beliau menekankan komitmen Australia untuk bekerjasama dengan negara-negara rakan sub-regional yang diwakili oleh enam negara Asia Tenggara dalam usaha memerangi keganasan. Mesyuarat tersebut mengambil kesempatan untuk berkongsi dan bertukar pandangan, dan meningkatkan kerjasama untuk melawan ancaman pengganasan yang semakin meningkat di rantau ini.
Menteri-Menteri dan wakil-wakil juga berpeluang untuk melawat demonstrasi Anti-Keganasan oleh Perintah Operasi Khas atau Special Operations Command (SOCOMD) di Campbell Barracks.
