RIMBA AIR FORCE BASE, Thursday, 22 October 2020 – Brigadier General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Mohd Sharif bin Dato Paduka Haji Ibrahim, Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF) Commander, attended the 17th ASEAN Air Force Chiefs Conference (17th AACC) conducted virtually.
Also in attendance were the Chief of Staff, RBAirF Headquarters, Staff Officers Grade 2 for Intelligence and Security and Training. The event, themed ‘ASEAN Air Forces: Cohesive and Responsive’, was chaired by the Vietnam Air Defence – Air Force, Vietnam People’s Air Force.
The conference was attended by the 10 ASEAN Air Force Chiefs or their representative and started off with welcoming remarks from the 17th AACC Chairman, Major General Vu Van Kha, Acting Commander-in-Chief of the Vietnam Air Defence – Air Force, Vietnam People’s Air Force. This was followed by the presentation on the outcomes of the 7th ASEAN Air Force Education and Training (AAFET) held on the 6 – 7 October 2020.
The RBAirF Commander, in his presentation, shared the challenges faced during COVID-19 pandemic and how it affected the RBAirF. He then revisited the outcomes of the 7th AAFET and shared his views on how the outcomes could be viable platforms for the ASEAN Air Forces to move towards a more practical cooperation. He also touched on several ADMM initiatives that could facilitate ASEAN Air Forces’ aspiration to be more cohesive and responsive.
The conference concluded with the handing over of the Chairmanship to the Royal Thai Air Force, scheduled to hold the 8th AAFET and 18th AACC in the Kingdom of Thailand in 2021.
PEMERINTAH TUDB HADIRI MESYUARAT ASEAN AIR FORCE CHIEFS KALI KE-17 DALAM TALIAN
PANGKALAN TENTERA UDARA RIMBA, Khamis 22 Oktober 2020 – Brigedier Jeneral (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Mohd Sharif bin Dato Paduka Haji Ibrahim, Pemerintah Tentera Udara Diraja Brunei (TUDB), telah menghadiri Mesyuarat ASEAN Air Forces Chiefs kali ke-17 (17th AACC) yang dikendalikan secara dalam talian.
Turut hadir bersama ialah Ketua Staf, Markas TUDB serta Timbalan-Timbalan Pegawai Turus Perisikan dan Keselamatan dan juga Latihan. Dengan bertemakan ‘ASEAN Air Forces: Cohesive and Responsive’, mesyuarat ini dihoskan oleh Pertahanan Udara – Tentera Udara Vietnam, Tentera Udara Rakyat Vietnam.
Mesyuarat dihadiri oleh Pemerintah ataupun wakil Pemerintah Tentera Udara dari 10 buah negara ASEAN dan dimulakan dengan ucapan pembukaan dari Mejar Jeneral Vu Van Kha, Pemangku Pemerintah Pertahanan Udara – Tentera Udara Vietnam, Tentera Udara Rakyat Vietnam. Ini diteruskan dengan pembentangan hasil dari ASEAN Air Force Training and Education (AAFET) ke-7 yang diadakan pada 6 – 7 Oktober 2020.
Pemerintah TUDB, di dalam pembentangan beliau, mengongsikan cabaran serta impak COVID-19 terhadap TUDB. Beliau juga meninjau semula hasil AAFET ke-7 dan mengongsikan pandangan bagaimana hasilnya dapat dijadikan platform yang penting untuk Tentera-Tentera Udara ASEAN untuk memupuk hubungan kerjasama yang lebih praktikal. Beliau juga menyentuh bagaimana inisiatif-inisiatif ADMM dapat membantu aspirasi Tentera-Tentera Udara ASEAN menjadi lebih bersatu padu dan responsif.
Mesyuarat diakhiri dengan penyerahan Pengerusi Mesyuarat AACC kepada Tentera Udara Diraja Thai, yang akan mengadakan AAFET ke-8 dan AACC ke-18 di Thailand pada tahun 2021.
