BOLKIAH GARRISON, Wednesday, 27 May 2020 – The ASEAN Centre of Military Medicine (ACMM) organized an ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM) COVID-19 Tabletop Exercise virtually yesterday chaired by Major General Nguyen Xuan Kien, Director of Vietnam Military Medical Department via the Polycom system for ACMM in Bangkok.
Representing the Royal Brunei Armed Forces was Colonel Dr Awg Mohd Hafizul bin Hj Mohd Awg Hassan, Chief Medical Officer of Medical Services. Amongst those present were Dr Hlaing Myo Tun and Dr Nay Lin Htike from Disease Control Division, Ministry of Health as well as officers from Directorate of Defence Policy, Ministry of Defence.
The objectives of the tabletop exercise included information sharing and reviewing lessons learned from Military Medical Services activities during the COVID-19 outbreak in each ASEAN Member State. A gap analysis based on the COVID-19 Strategic Preparedness and Response Plan (SPRP) modified from World Health Organisation (WHO) was also conducted.
Participants comprised of ASEAN Member States with facilitators and observers from Australia, China, India, Japan, New Zealand, the Russian Federation, United States of America, ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Management and WHO representative based in Thailand.
This exercise reflects the much encouraged collaboration in concordance with the Joint Statement by the ASEAN Defence Ministers on Defence Cooperation Against Disease Outbreaks during the ADMM Retreat in February 2020 and the Declaration of the Special ASEAN Summit on Coronavirus Disease 2019 in April 2020.

Bolkiah Garison, Rabu, 27 Mei 2020 – ASEAN Centre of Military Medicine (ACMM) telah mengendalikan ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM) COVID-19 Tabletop Exercise secara talian semalam yang dipengerusikan oleh Mejar Jeneral Nguyen Xuan Kien, Pengarah Perubatan Ketenteraan Vietnam melalui sistem Polycom bagi ACMM di Bangkok.
Mewakili Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei ialah Kolonel Dr Awg Mohd Hafizul bin Haji Mohd Awg Hassan, Ketua Pegawai Perubatan. Antara peserta-peserta yang hadir adalah Dr Hlaing Myo Tun dan Dr Nay Lin Htike dari Bahagian Kawalan Penyakit, Kementerian Kesihatan dan pegawai-pegawai dari Jabatanarah Dasar Pertahanan, Kementerian Pertahanan.
Objektif eksesais adalah untuk berkongsi maklumat dan mengimbas amalan terbaik daripada aktiviti Military Medical Services semasa penularan wabak COVID-19 di negara anggota ASEAN. Analisis untuk mengenalpasti aspek yang boleh diperbaiki berdasarkan COVID-19 Strategic Preparedness and Response Plan (SPRP) yang telah diserap dari World Health Organisation (WHO) juga telah dijalankan.
Eksesais turut disertai oleh negara anggota ASEAN bersama fasilitator dan pemerhati dari Australia, Amerika Syarikat, China, India, Jepun, New Zealand, Persekutuan Rusia, serta ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Management dan perwakilan WHO yang bertempat di Thailand selaku fasilitator dan pemerhati.
Pengendalian eksesais secara talian ini juga mencerminkan hasrat di dalam Kenyataan Bersama oleh Menteri-Menteri Pertahanan ASEAN mengenai Kerjasama Pertahanan dalam Menentang Penularan Penyakit semasa ADMM Retreat yang telah berlangsung pada bulan Febuari 2020 dan Declaration of the Special ASEAN Summit on Coronavirus Disease 2019 pada bulan April 2020.
